Maybe game Pikachu beat legendaries? Red's Pikachu was at a crazy high level, so it was probably capable of taking on some of the lower level legendaries in the game.

But even then, all the legendaries get caught by the player, so nope.

Actually, Red's Pikachu would handily kick the crap out of pretty much any of them.

None of them can particularly deal with a level 88 Pikachu with ridiculous stats, special moves that can only be acquired via specific breeding and x2 Attack and Special Attack.

Oh yeah, forgot about the light ball.

Yeah, doubled attack, special attack, and naturally decent speed would be pretty nasty at high levels vs pretty much any other pokemon in the game. The high level is the real killer though.

When did Ash's Pikachu ever defeat an actual legendary? Zapdos effortlessly knocked him down in an attempt to communicate (and Pikachu then struggle to endure the ensuing conversation), he couldn't even fight Mewtwo in the slightest, he was as useless as everyone not named Charizard against fake!Entei, couldn't do anything against the Unowns...

Did I miss a movie where he actually accomplished something against a legendary beside being casually dismissed?

He also beat a Dragonite in the Orange Island arc, which is considered by fans to be a 'pseudo-legendary', a Pokemon whose base stats are far above regular Pokemon, but aren't considered legendary. Other 'pseudo-legendary' Pokemon include Tyranitar, Salamence, Metagross, Garchomp, and Hydreigon.

In the games they have a base stat total of 600, same as many legendaries. So... Yeah.

He stalemated Dragonite after Dragonite went through a gauntlet of Ash's entire team and Team Rocket's latest capture attempt. And the only way he could do that was by jumping on it's head where it couldn't reach.

That isn't particularly the same as legitimately beating Dragonite.
