The Return of Arcane who had possessed the body of Matt Cable, Abby's husband, who himself had incredible powers--which he wasted on creating "astral porn".
Swamp Thing Goes to Hell--to retrieve the unjustly condemned soul of Abby
The first appearance of John Constantine--who in those days "coincidentally" resembled Sting, who was still with The Police
Swamp Thing later took on the residents of a submerged town--who happened to be undersea vampires.
And later, Abby is arrested in Gotham City (of ALL places) for perversion ( for "hugging vegetables"--namely Swamp Thing!) When Swampy nearly destroys Gotham--guess who tries to stop him?
Even in the midst of reading these stories, I bought a TRDPBK of the first stories, which you know as "volume one". And yes, I didn't think they were as interesting or entertaining as the later stories, so in answer to your question: YES, it did get better--by far!
Bear in mind, there's no "Pow, Zap, Biff!" type stuff as you would find in super-hero comics, but if you were interested enough to buy volume one in the first place, then you already knew that. Try the volume which has Bats in it first (reprinting SWAMP THING #51-53) and if you like it, you can always backtrack and eventually get Moore's entire tenure!
FAV Comics: Lil' ABNER, DICK TRACY, BATMAN, UNCLE SCROOGE, KAMUI, TOMB OF DRACULA, THE MIGHTY THOR by LEE\KIRBY, WONDER WOMAN by PEREZ\KAREN BERGER, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 1-206 and EC COMICS!

Pull List; seems to be too long to fit in my sig...
Acclaimed titles I haven't read... hurm...
There are also a few I read a trade or two of but never completed...
Y: The Last Man
I have a copy of Flex Mentallo but haven't cracked it yet. Maybe when I get back to the states.
The dark knight strikes again wasnt boring, it wasnt very good, but still entertaining. To say, it entertained me well enough, but i see the many flaws or whatever you want to call it.
I have to try the next few Trades of Swamp Thing, maybe it catches me somewhere down the line.
Would you say, that Swamp Thing is better than Man-Thing? And i mean the 70's Man-Thing in his first ongoing or the comic called fear?
Damn, i find Man Thing very entertaining visually. He looks damn cool.
Swampy looks pretty much the same without looking like an elephant :p
Still rooting for Man Thing, he looks cooler
Hmmm, the only one I can think of, and that I'd want to, is Howard Caykin (not really a fan) and Jose Luiz Garcia Lopez's (HUGE fan) Twilight.
The Walt Simonson "Manhunter" series.
Green Lantern/Green Arrow O'Niel and Adams series.
Giffen LOSH (love everything else he's done at DC, just can't stand the Legion)
Perez' Wonder Woman
Brubaker and Cooke's Catwoman (not a fan of Cooke's art, I know that I'm in the minority)
Any of the Wrightson Swamp Thing (do love his art, just haven't gotten around to it)
A Fool for the Foom
Oh, i asked everyone who read it, or has an opinion. But i dont really think Man Thing is acclaimed.
I bought The Filth, can we put it in the list, or isnt it popular enough?
