i like how Master Darque looks like Pinhead from Hellraiser.
I can't wait for issue #2. I just picked up issue #1 as my first taste of the new Valiant line and really enjoyed it. The characters were interesting, there were lots of interesting ideas to be explored and it covered a lot of ground. For being a first issue, there was a ton of solid groundwork here. The story and art were nothing short of fantastic. So I'll gladly be back for more. I really like the creepy tone of the book as well. This was something fresh and entertaining for me. I love taking a chance on a new book and being rewarded for it.
that was pretty awesome.
can't wait to get my hands on this bad boy next week.
If anyone is still not convinced there are 6 more super spoilery pages over at VEI's official site, here-

I don't think this too spoilery as it's pretty much the cover, but check it out!

Pretty Good.
Black History Month & 29 Days in February
VALIANT, Saga, Manhattan Projects, Locke & Key, Hawkeye, Young Avengers.
I actually somewhat do the opposite, of reading the text really quickly and trying not to take in the details of the art too much. When I actually get the issue I take my sweet time with each panel. Especially when it's gorgeous, gorgeous Patrick Zircher art!
I still picked up some interesting things. Deadside is apparently not an inherently bad place, but was ruined by Darque, which is awesome. As a reader who came on to the Valiant relaunch without any prior knowledge of the characters, I wouldn't have expected that. It also sets Darque up nicely as a world-ending villain if he has no one to stop him. Cool to see jazz stuff in Jack's apartment, too. That always sounded like a really cool part of the character and I'm glad they kept it.
Very excited to see where this goes... I think the first issue will be the weakest for some time, and that's in no way a dig at the very good first issue.
Looking for artists, know I won't find any. That blows.
