This was a good issue. The panel of the black hugging Havok was touching. On the next few pages I could not figure out if people were actually watching the Red Skull on television, but now I realize his new found telepathic powers can account for what those people did and this means we don't have to blame them. Him being a clone from 1942 introduces an interesting dynamic: He doesn't remember how badly and how many times he has lost. Bring in a CC, people! Has Wanda always been a witch and Chthon somehow boosted her powers?

No, we're just bored of it. Some posters do not know when and where it is appropriate to troll. It's like the people who make "get back to the kitchen" jokes on serious feminist discussions. It's distasteful and it's getting old.

She would have been a "mere energy-wielding mutant" but Chthon gave her the ability to tap into chaos magick.

With all this trolling about, I think an important point has been missed..
that being that The Red Skull isn't especially racist or anti-mutant as a core value, but rather is simply utilizing the anti-mutant sentiment as a means to gain power in the same way that Hitler utilized anti-semitism to gain power IRL.
Albeit a touch on-the-nose, it's still a rather brilliant use of the mutant allegory and a pretty poignant plot device.

Again, I don't think anyone in this thread has said he isn't making plans to rape her. I think you're trying to deflect the main point which is she has a semi-form of autonomy. That bit about getting physical and her following down some stairs he was forcing her to do that but at the same time her mind was free to say whatever she wanted. It's very clearly shown in the issue when he was coercing her to say things hence the telepathic speech bubbles. The bit that she shouted at Rogue about being trailer trash. The Red Skull wasn't around for that he left her with her prejuidice amplified. That bit where she tries to defend herself for HoM, that was all her. The bit where she tells him I won't tell you anything but is still following down stairs. That shows that she was semi-autonomous.

I actually agree with this...sort of. I would say RS is manipulating Wanda by twisting the truth, mixing Wanda's feelings with general anti-mutant sentiments. It isn't merely amplifying her own thoughts because that would imply she wanted RS physically. Either way, it is still a form of mind control.

As for trying to defend herself for HoM, I'm not sure what you're talking about. I think it was made pretty clear that she does understand the consequences of her actions in #1, CC and AvX.
