Not crazy about this. I thought "First Class" was fantastic and the start of something new and fresh. Now it feels like Singer is just going to muck it all up by trying to make it fall in line with his X-Men movies, which I was never a fan of in the first place. (And Michael Fassbender was so much more believable and threatening as Erik than Ian McKellen ever was.) Not good news, IMO, and I'll be approaching this sequel with much trepidation for the time being.

Man, I remember how much that bait-and-switch in X3 sucked!

Ha, ha, X-Fans! It's not Days of Future Past, it's the Danger Room!

Keep in mind this might be their way of branching off from the future shown in X1-3. If so, it's a great move because it frees Fassbender up to take Magneto a different direction.

And now they can intro a Cyclops who isn't Wolverine's bitch.

I think X3 was all bait-and-switch. Mind you, it was still better than X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

It was already lining up with his work, before this. I wager that the film will be a combination of "Days Of Future Past", "Legion Quest" and "The Age Of Apocalypse". Someone will go back in time to eliminate either Magneto or Charles, and one of the X-Men characters from "First Class" will go back to change it.

However they play it, I think it will take its cues from Abrams' Star Trek reboot.

Your original trilogy still happened, but history has branched off in a different direction now for the cast of First Class.

Mark Millar mentioned killer robots so I assume he was hinting at Sentinels, yes.
