Probably in the minority, but I much prefer Kubert to Opena. Opena does good men and tight details, but for women, expressions and all around goodness my $ is on Adam Kubert.

Still won't get to me to read the book though.

Just a hunch but I think Hyperion and Captain Marvel will end up being Marvel NOW's answer to what's going on with Superman and Wonder Woman over at DC.

If it's that Hype, I'm curious if they'll dovetail his "secret orign" with Gruenwalds revelation that Hyperion was some sort of eternal from the Quasar book.

From day one Hyperion (and the rest of the Squadron) were blatent JLA copies. I don't think they even bothered to try and disguise that.

But the funny thing is that guys like Gruenwald and JMS made them dam interesting copies. Hopefully that trend will continue here. It certainly LOOKS interesting.

I might get this one for Kubert's art. Hopefully, Hickman will do it justice.

Hyperion and the Squadron Supreme/Sinister were created as part of an unofficial crossover with DC, way before the 1977 Superman and Spiderman. Over at DC they had the Champions of Angor, or some such, with Wandjina, Captain Speed (he had another name in the original story, if I'm not mistaken), Silver Sorceress and Bluejay standing in for Thor, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and Yellow Jacket respectively. Curiously, I have never read their original appereance in the pages of Justice League of America, only when they were broght back at the beggining of the Giffen and DeMatties Justice League.
Marvel really used and developed much more it's pseudo DC heroes than DC did itspseudo Marvel ones. Even before Gru's amazing Squadron Supreme mini-series (appearently he was a big JLA fan), they (and their Sinister counterparts) had already been guest-stars in several titles and even had a couple of major sagas centered around them in the pages of Avengers and the Defenders.
The Champions of Angor only got some development during the Giffen-DeMatties era of the JLA/I/E, in which even more members were introduced, such as an Iron Man, a Hawkeye and a Goliath stand in among others. DC really gave a spin making the Extremists a group of villains based on some of the worst Marvel Villains (Dr Doom, Dormammu, Magneto, Sabretooth and Dr Octopus).
Anyway, if I'm not mistaken there was a comics legends made about this some time ago.
All in all, I find extremely fun these different interpretations of the competitions characters, and the Squadron Supīreme are among my favorite Avengers adversaries.

    Peace

I would actually not mind seeing tha
All stories are imaginary, so you get to decide what's important and what isn't. Continuity is fluid.
