Levitz has always been a class act. I wish I had as much faith in the people now running DC as he does (or at least as he seems to have in Jim Lee). Though I'm enjoying some "new 52" books, I'm really sad that they've managed to turn me off from Green Lantern (Johns has totally jumped the shark as far as I'm concerned), Justice League, and my beloved Superman.

    That's debatable. Ask Alan Moore.

I don't think even Alan Moore has a particular problem with Levitz, but for the company he represents. Levitz did as much as he could for Moore -- it's no coincidence that "Before Watchmen" never came out under Levitz, Levitz specifically apologized for the V For Vendetta gaffe, he's done a ton for creators rights....

Honestly, Levitz was too conservative for my tastes, as a publisher. He stopped things like "The Boys" and "The Authority" from continuing forward despite their success both creatively and financially, he refused to allow the publication of Flex Mentallo for the mere vague possibility of litigation (litigation DC already won), he lagged on digital... I think he often played it 'safe'.

But that he was an incredible force not just for creators rights but for creator respect is undeniable, and that he cared about getting new and quality voices out there -- that he gave as much slack as possible to Berger and Vertigo - is irrefutable and more clear than ever.

I have immense respect for the work he did, both as a creator and as a publisher. He was an intellectual, and a gentleman, and while there have been some positives from Didio and Lee's takeover, there is no doubt in my mind that Levitz understands the importance of the creator, and the importance of quality, more acutely than they do or ever will.

I would prefer a future without Paul Levitz on it.

Pfft. Yeah, let's ask Alan Moore, I'm sure he has really positive things to say about anyone working on DC (Or the industry for that matter).
Comic Books are fun, Comic Book fans not so much.

Levitz censored a real historically documented advertisement that ran in LOEG for "Marvel Douche" and had the whole run pulped.

    We agree on this.

Oh ho ho ho, I forgot how seriously people take this kind of subjects here. Okay, no more jokes from me.

I skipped this the first time because of the price tag and the inconvenient size, but I'll definitely be buying these trimmed down volumes.

Agreed on Levitz, and totally agreed on Johns on GL. Time for a change.
