Best Cover artist - Who gets you to pick up the book?

Covers. They are the first thing you see when picking up a comic and it's a major hook to get you spend your money. Over

the years all comic publishers have made an effort to have the cover pop out at you and have had some of the best talent to

work on them. Which artist was the best? Which artist was the best at selling a book?

For me this was Carmine Infantino. His covers made it impossible for me to resist them. I well remember looking at the cover of Detective Comics 363 and needing to have it--

Mike Zeck who would draw some of the most exciting covers for G.I.Joe.

Nobody now. I can't imagine that at this point a cover would make me by a funnybook.

However, as I've said before Ernie Chan/Chua got me to buy a lot of covers in the late 70s. Including this one.

Zeck wasn't always the most reliable penciler for interiors, but he was about the best cover guy Marvel had during the 80's.

Obviously most great artists draw great covers. But that is never a reason I would buy a comic these days
