    Default Marvel 2099

So I've recently gained a complete set of every single 2099 comic And what I was hoping to get from some of you guys is suggestions on how best to read the whole lot. The only ones I've read before are some Spidey 2099, I know there were some crossovers towards the end, other than that I'm a bit lost! Any help is massively appreciated

Most of the series had little in the way of crossovers with each other, the only big exception was Doom 2099, whose events influenced the other titles a lot (especially after a certain development in the story).

Do keep in mind that a lot of the series were really weak: PAD on Spider-Man 2099 was good, Doom 2099 was probably the best series of the whole 2099 universe and I have a soft spot for J.F. Moore on X-Men 2099 and love Bachallo's art on Ghost Rider, but Ravage is reknown for being a terrible, terrible comic and several of the others weren't any better.

Still, I'd say if you want to read the whole 2099 universe (even stuff like Ravage and 2099: World of Tomorrow) read the starter series (Spider-Man, Doom, Punisher, Ravage and X-Men) stopping once you hit the Fall of the Hammer crossover issues.

Then read Fall of the Hammer in order (the crossover issues still has subplots from the individual series running through it, so you might be a bit lost on them otherwise).

Then continue with individual series till the A.D. tagline starts appearing. You can start Hulk around this time as well. Probably read Doom first, because the events there will be spoiled in other series otherwise (he tends to have a big influence on the whole world).

The other series (Ghost Rider, X-Nation, FF 2099) IIRC were all started taking place after the A.D.-tagline appears.

Then read the series till the end. 2099 World of Tomorrow starts after all the individual series have ended.

World of Tomorrow was a bit of a mess though, wasn't it? They had cancelled all the titles and rolled them into WOT 2099 after the 2099 staffers were either laid off or walked away when their editor Joe Caliveri was fired. I suppose you could include the one shot, Manifest Destiny that came several years later. But that's only if you are a completist I guess. It was also disappointing. I don't think there's ever been a really good follow ups.

In my opinion Doom and Punisher were the highlights (until Punisher changed over to Dixon, who played it straight). Spider-Man 2099 was certainly appealing to many people. Some of X-Men and Unlimited was very readable, good stuff, and other bits were meh or outright bad. Fantastic Four was interesting to me, but didn't hook me, and I can't even remember anything about Ghost Rider except his metal gleaming skull.

Ah thanks for the help guys! I always wanted to read Doom 2099, and just ended up getting the whole lot. I'll go for the order suggested, and if the thread is still active, let you know what I thought
