Nightwing's New 52 outfit has improved dramatically since launch

I dunno if they realize it, but blue and black are cold colors, which indicate night. Red is a warm color, which indicates day.

That said, it IS a new suit. He actually switched in a recent issue. It has lines on the ribs, a shorter bird symbol, thicker gauntlets, and stripes down the arms. You actually see him pull it out of the closet, with the old suit next to it.

Yeah the whole color things is till thrown off, your very right about the cool and warm colors. The blue works so much better and actually represents him.

Ya, the arm stripes are not just artist interpretation. Its a different suit, he's got one with, and one without. Which covers seeing him without arm stripes in other books. Now if he can just pull out a blue one, or hell any color but red. There's too much damn red already.

Superman is gonna be black/red for an upcoming story. Superior Spider-man is black/red

All the robins have a black/red thing. Cyclops was black/red with the phoenix and will be black/red for his Marvel Now suit

We got too many red superheroes in the Batfamily. Especially with the Robins. Good god, we got Robin, Red Robin, and Red Hood. Nightwing is the only one that doesn't share red or robin in his name.

Its just really gotten bad the lack of originality that have show with the Robins in the relaunch. Its like they've gone out of their way to mash um up further, and make them less distinct from one another. Right down to the color of their uniforms.

Blue > Red

The blue made him more unique and I personally thought it looked better. At least his new costume isn't as bad as the track suits Power Girl and Huntress wear.

I hope they fix some of the shitty costumes soon.

All part of the greater effort to homogenize the Robins; a baffling and alienating editorial decision IMO.

Stripping aspects of Dick's history and handing them off to Jason, or Tim's to Dick, none of it for the better, and no logic behind it at all.

So much this, but at least Dick's got his stripes back.

Yes, the reason they did it was so that all of the Robins could be red. Look at Damian, Red Bird, they switched them all to Red for a reason, that way when the Robins title launches they can all be uniformed.

I don't hate it, but I still think aesthetically the blue looks better, and imo the cool color fits better with Dick's personality.
