That book featured a very Kirsten Dunst-y MJ, not the personable and lively cutie we have all grown to love, so I am not surprised to hear that. Also, Spider-Man is no Robert Pattinson. I don't see how they expected young girls to buy in masses a book which revolved around a chick who had little else other than "Spider-Man loved her". The only way an MJ solo book is truly going to breakout if Mary Jane is developed into her own person, separate from Peter. He may appear in the series occasionally, but the entire thing should not be about him and their love for each other. That works best in a one-off special or as the primary subplot of the main ASM series itself.

Nope. While I don't think it's a "stupid" idea, I don't see how it would work. Super-heroine books alone don't seem to last very long at Marvel. The only one who defied the odds was the [REAL] Spider-Girl who was the spitting image of her rambunctious red-headed mother, M.J. I like Mary-Jane but with Peter Parker. On her own, I can see Marvel trying to pass her along to other super-heroes or brainless bromide boyfriends in something akin to Patsy Walker Comics but M.J. would be a true "patsy" indeed.

They could try to make her comic a mystery book where she would investigate the creepy goings-on in various situations. Yeah, she could have a new boyfriend, probably a blonde sports jock. They could team up with a brainy computer geek and her boyfriend, a beatnik who (like M.J. herself in some ways) refuses to accept the fact that the 60s are over--and to cap it off, the guy always travels with his Great Dane who can't stop eating. The dog would be funny too, with clever "thought balloons"--or maybe he could speak in dog-speech which sounds similar to English--they could call him "Doobie" or something like that...

That's the only way I think it would work. I expect Marvel to send me my royalty check for this original idea that NOBODY ever thought of...

That is because Marvel is braindead when it comes to deciding which of its superheroines most deserves a solo. I mean, Sif and Red She-Hulk over Black Widow, She Hulk(regular), Wasp, Rogue, Storm, and Emma Frost?!? Even an MJ series has much greater potential to succeed than those two books currently doing the rounds.

Rogue, Storm and Emma had limites series and all failed.
Marvel always tried with Black Widow, but sales never get together.
The only exception of your examples is She Hulk.
With The Wasp, Marvel never tried.

And right you are, I've fixed the mistake.

    Thanks for the heads up.

I like that idea. Villains have numerous hangout spots. Why not the good guys?
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!

Of course she can't sustain her own book. Storm can't sustain her own book. Miss Marvel can't either.

I'd like to see somebody try though.

I think if you were to do a title like this, it should be as goofy as those old "Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane" comics. Unfortunately the market won't support such a title.

Edit: Also, instead of MJ trying to get Spidey to marry her seemingly every issue, it should be the inverse. With Spidey trying to get MJ to marry him seemingly every issue.

But as I said, the market won't support such a title.

The monster saved them all. And in their fear, they betrayed him. As they always have. As they always will.

Ms Marvel can’t support her own book because she’s awful.

I sort of expect that Storm COULD support her own book if Marvel actually tried it.

MJ’s last series ran for longer than a lot of attempts at new comics.

I don't know if I would have a problem with a club mini series actually.

Two four-issue minis followed by a twenty issue ongoing and another five issue mini. I doubt a lot of the new Marvel Now books will get 33 issues, let alone 20 consecutive ones without a relaunch. The Mary Jane comics managed to run for years even though it wasn’t in continuity.

(Plus the only reason anyone ever bought a comic for the Jackpot character is that they thought it’d be MJ under the mask)

The Black Widow solo series could work quite well, with the right writer involved. But, it would be cool to see Natasha working with Jessica Drew and Julia Carpenter as a team with Ezekiel Sims providing the financial backing(for their missions and equipment) and compensation for each of them. This could be Marvel's version of Birds of Prey. Don't you agree?

The only connection that they would have with Spider-Man/Peter Parker is the fact that he's a close friend of theirs and have the same type of friendship that he has with Carol Danvers, meaning that Peter's able to have a normal friendship with each of them respectively(unlike Felicia Hardy) in a normal situation away from crime fighting adventures out of costume in their civilian identity.
