State of Wakanda: The Black Panther Discussion

I'm on the fence about romance for Panther, first who would they put him with that would be worthy, and then would we really hear Tchalla true voice? There is bad vibe when i see Tchalla written so out of character. I shiver when i remember Ororo storming out of the avengers and steve telling him to stay...and he did! What would a woman think if she is given the impression that she isnt worth bolting out after.

That was such a poorly written scene. I mean Ororo not speaking to T'Challla before bolting and T'Challa not following after Cap told him to stop. That was not king like. Dissolving the marriage made no sense due to marvel combining the X-Men and Avengers franchises. Now what should happen is that there should be some bad blood between the two for a while. I mean if they really love one another, then passion dictates that there should be some hard feeling between the two. But Marvel will not really address it. They will probably just write a let's be friends issue to resolve it. SMH

Plus if they're willing to trust Tony who has screwed almost every hero in the Marvel U( that's not even counting the women he's screwed over after sleeping with them ) then any beef with BP is either small or unnecessary

This is very true. The entire AvX series consisted of poor characterization for almost all the characters, but especially BP and Storm. Now that there is suppose to be a greater connection between the X-men and Avengers franchises, their marriage should have been showcased and given the spotlight. They were A+X before it became a series! And the two of them should be leading the Uncanny Avengers right now!

This is why I want a separate office sealed off from the greater Marvel Universe not only to set him up with a great love interest but to reestablish that underused rogues gallery that's been sitting around Wakanda waiting for the green light to do that dastardly villainy thing that they do!

I live vicariously through my favorite characters so if the Spiderman movies can switch out Mary Jane for Gwen Stacy or Batman gets Catwoman at the end of the day I want the same for Black Panther!

Flex, I just gotta point out that it's funny that you would use the Julia Roberts Pretty Woman analogy for what you want out of a Black Panther film (along with the adventure) when that same analogy was exactly what was given back in the day with Monica Lynne. (Rich and powerful man falls for normal, lower social class but charming woman who is swept off her feet by his world)

I mean, unless you think Richard Gere's billionaire character falling for a call girl is better off than an African King falling for a blues singer? Those two examples correspond moreso than a Storm or CM hook-up, which would not be like pretty woman at all, (or even Spidey with MJ) which was my earlier point.

But you might just be using that as a loose example instead of an exact one.

Sidenote: Lot of mixed reaction from folks about Django unchained...surprisingly moreso from black people themselves...I actually enjoyed it though. Surprised there isn't a bit more talk about it on here.
