    Marvel NOW = Marvel THEN
Kind of. In that no one threw out the baby with the bathwater. On the plus side, nothing is ruined. On the minus side, nothing is all that different from last month, so there's none of that new car feeling. And of the stuff that might be... we're all of an issue in, and most of those pages are used to reintroduce the players.

But most of the stuff seems to lean more towards gem than stinker, fortunately.

Marvel Now has been very solid outside of Iron Man. It seems you really cant go wrong with any of the titles if youre into that character.

    The big winners for me:

Captain America has been the surprise of the relaunch so far for me - coming from a huge Brubaker Cap fan. Remender's first Cap issue covered so much range and had a soul while doing it. His manifesto write up in the back was just icing on the cake for his love of the character.

Uncanny Avengers is a mainstream book with more cerebral pacing of a lower key title - plus the crazy ideas (almost horror-like) are just awesome. Totally unexpected for a flagship mainstream book. The pacing here is something to be praised - the issues just pop by with a nice flow. Remender has an awesome sense of modern comic book pacing. I love how it has the big name heroes but looks like its going to focus on lower key folks like Havoc, Scarlet Witch, and Rouge. The plot with the Avengers finally giving a shit about mutants is something that Marvel has overlooked nearly their entire history - its about time. A unique take on a flagship title - love it!

Hickman's Avengers/New Avengers is going to be the most epic run Marvel has ever seen. Mark my words. I wouldn't miss a second of it.

Aaron's Thor fills that Conan barbarian niche. I may trade wait it tho from here on.
