Was that not Queen Jean aka the Red Queen pretending to be Madeylne Pryor? I remember Emma Frost met her in that Gen X/X-Man crossover with Dark Beast.

Complex, layered and fulfilling characterization is about more than "winning". I sincerely hope you'll grow up and out of your tunnel vision one day and understand that.

poor maddie never deserved her fate. she was always a treasure and i found her much more likeable than the jean grey that returned to x-factor.

Yeah, until the recent good work at the hands of Gillen, I'd go so far as to say Maddie was a more subtle, nuanced and well developed character than Cyclops had ever been

Maddie's world pretty much revolved around Cyclops. Her whole character arc was "I'm not Jean, I'm better".

When the Cyclops thing didn't pan out, her world pretty much revolved around trolling Cyclops. Her whole character arc was still pretty much "I'm not Jean, I'm better."

    How is that subtle?

And if Cyclops was so irrelevant, Claremont would never need to remove him from the picture for Stom to take over, no? His pet Storm would just be 2nd rate cannon fodder and/or a tool for Marvel to say "we have diversity in our ranks, thank you", as she is now that CC isn't writing stuff.
This post made my day. Seriously.....WTH is Cyclops, the angry white male equivalent of inane boring stupidity? I mean seriously, he is going back to those early days of Xfactor with his current stance and that makes him irrelevant. That's why he's an escaped felon who relies on Magneto and Magick to be relevant.

Sorry, that was rude of me. Maybe their meaning changed when they were translated into French.

Oh, for crying out loud. I'm not saying this with the slightest hint of malice, but Claremont doesn't do subtle. Ever. Maddie was meant to be an hilarious, creepy prop for Cyclop's Exit Stage Left. Her defining story arc was that she wasn't Jean.

    If anything, it's comedy gold.

Did Mady serve any other purpose then to be jeans replacement soon after she died?

Then when Jean came back they pretended like Mady was an evil witch the whole time. But we still got Cable so....

I like to think Claremont possessed some self-awareness back then.

There had to be something vaguely resembling a joke somewhere in there, right?
