Did Hal Jordan have to completley go away for awhile?

Why did they add a John Stewart? Why did they add Kyle Rayner? Something different. Hal Jordan has graced the covers of GL for the past 6 years. Seeing as how he's been going from event to event saving the world time after time... I think he could use a few months of absence.

I just hope a few months doesnt wind up being another 10 years.

I'll be glad when Hal and Sinestro finally come back or we get an issue that doesnt deal with that loser Baz the whole time. I'm sick of reading the same old origin stories. Woosh! A GL ring flies onto a new guys finger, new guy is baffled as to how to use the ring, new guy ends up fighting someone who ends up telling him about the ring and Oa. Blah, Blah. I fart in Geoff Johns general direction for writing in Baz and slowing down th momentum of the story when it was just getting really good. I see Baz is going to be in the JLA. I hope he stays there or some other book I dont read and doesnt mess up my GL book anymore. Boooo to you Baz. I hope you die, but then we gotta go through another origin story. Oh Glob it's just an endless circle of crap isn't it. Come back Hal! You're our only hope!

I agree another non-white human GL is great and so far I am enjoying Baz but I would have loved if they had introduced a female GL.

I would argue that 2 lanterns per sector is too little for an entire universe. They should increase the number for each sector.

The entire appeal to me of the Green Lantern concept is that it is larger than any one person. It's a job, not an individual.

I like Hal, I grew up with Hal, but the new guy right now is a hundred times more interesting to me at the moment than reading more Hal stories. Because of the nature of comics, I am sure Simon as the main focus is not a permanent thing, but I would definitely not mind if it was.

Well said. I feel the same way. I'm a huge GL fan, but more so because I think it's a great concept, not because I'm a fan of one particular character as GL. Also, when that concept includes an intergalactic Corps of thousands of space police, it's only natural that Hal won't always be the main guy even if he is the most popular. This is one of the things that I've always liked best about Green Lantern and the whole GL concept in general: Because of the concept of the Green Lantern Corps and there being thousands of green power rings scattered throughout the universe, creators can actually take breaks from just one guy being the same main Green Lantern all the time and have a different GL become the main one at any time without it feeling contrived. Compare that to any other significant, big name heroes using fill-ins, like Dick stepping up to wear Batman's cape and cowl or four different weirdos posing as Superman. All the fuss surrounding what's going to happen to Spider-Man in a couple of issues right now over at Marvel is a perfect example.

I hate KickAss-Green Lantern so much, not only did I drop GL and GLC in advance of his appearance, I dropped JL too before he showed up.

Now I just get Green Lantern the animated series. IF he shows up there I may quit DC altogether.
