I prefer humanoid forms of Brainiac as well, although nobody has ever really done him justice, I thought Gary Frank's aesthetic was good. I didn't think Brainiac needed be a big hulking guy, but the H.R. Giger style black metal with glowy LED lights was very good stuff. I'd personally like to see him a bit more Borg-like. Like Dani Filth as a bald, green super-villain.

I have no problem though, thinking that the bug-look of Morrison's Action story and the transition from Golden to Silver Age Superman, is some sort of "Larval Form", and that future models of Brainiac will be more cohesive and akin to the old versions, albeit hopefully slightly more skeletal and black metal as hell. And maybe with weird fiber-optic insect wings, because why not?

Quickly became my favorite version of Brainiac. Until then it was the TAS version (especially the voice), which has been incorporated to this version brilliantly. This Brainiac (or Collector) is more three dimensional in his motivations, and has been designed to be more relevant to our age of information and internet.

I can definitely agree with all of this.

I feel like Johns and Frank almost had a good thing, and then took a wrong turn at the very last intersection.

I really, REALLY hated Gary Frank's redesign of Brainiac.

If we're going to go humanoid, I want Quitely's.

I think Johns just came up with a bad Brainiac story and Frank drew accordingly. Could have given him some sleeves though.

Hey, what can I say but I hope we never see The Collector and IMO the stupid idea of making him a Caterpillar again, but hey you know me. ;)

This is still my favorite Brainiac and most likely always will be.

Now that Brainiac is a cybernetic centipede, I'd like to suggest a teamup with Mr. Mind for the next Superman/Shazam teamup.

The Collector was "infected with emotion" (human) from John C so that could be the reason behind a more human form in stories to come.

Also I love the Collector. Best Brainiac concept to date.

Not a fan of the caterpillar or the Alien rip off Brainiac, I like the first Silver Age design best. Combine it with the classic electrode head and you've got a good looking villain.

    Don't recognize him as "Brainiac".

Couldn't agree more, that is my favorite Brainiac by far

Now I'm nostalgic for green goat head Braniac from JLA: Earth 2.
