    Lightbulb Aphrodite in wonder woman

I've been reading Wonder Woman since the new 52 started and I love it. It's a must read for me every month. But I couldn't help but notice
that every time Aphrodite is shown in a panel, they never actually reveal her face. Does anyone know why that is?

She's supposed to be the most beautifull woman of all time. Not showing her face is a way of keeping that up, since no artist could possibly draw a woman that would be the most beautifull in everyone's eyes.

It's a trick that leaves beauty free for everyone to interpret. Right now everyone can have their own idea of how beautiful she is (which I think is also the case within the book and she changes depending on who is looking), while if her face was shown someone would very likely go 'hmm...i dont like brunettes...'.

So Diana's still beautiful (Batwoman # 13), that's a given. But since she wasn't made of clay anymore, is it safe to say that she's no longer bestowed the gift of beauty (or her other pre New 52 god-given gifts for that matter) by Aphrodite ?

I think it's safe to say that she no longer has the beauty of Aphrodite, and is beautiful now because her parents are good looking folks and passed that on to her. But then Hephaestus, Lennox, and Milan (if that is him in the preview panel from #15) aren't exactly beautiful. So really Diana's good looking genes came from her mother's side.

Did anyone else wonder how the beauty of Aphrodite thing worked? Did it mean that everyone found her beautiful no matter what? And did they find her attractive even if she wasn't what they'd normally find attractive in a woman, or could they just appreciate her like a nice sunset?

Dont think it was ever touched on, she just was beautiful to look at. Or in the case of Etrigan it may have had a more immediate effect as he immediately fell head of heels for her.

That said I am not sure if someone like the Martian Manhunter considered her attractive (begin member of a telepathic race of shapeshifters, the physical appearance of a person probably isn't what counts).

In the legend of the Trojan War, Paris doesn't find Aphrodite to be more beautifull than Hera or Athenas.

Yeah, apparently, they were all a tie, so it came down to another preference of Paris'. We need to see Athena in the current Wonder Woman run.

Irene Adler: “I would have you right here on this desk until you begged for mercy twice.”
Sherlock: “I’ve never begged for mercy in my life.”
    Irene: “Twice.”

Yes you did, that's true. But having Mayor Ares cuddling up to her this issue adds another dimension

Sherlock: “I’ve never begged for mercy in my life.”
    Irene: “Twice.”

Ah well, not very clever in this situation to pick one anyway. Cause boy, you can be sure that the other two are going to be mighty pissed alright.

Well, on the other hand, they would probably be pissed too is he didn't choose.
Screwed if he did, screwed if he didn't.
