And for anyone who is interested, Amazon has a listing for the Warren Ellis issues plus World of Doom 2099 one shot to be published as a TPB next year.

    Book Description
Release Date: April 9, 2013 | Grade Level: 4 and up | Series: Doom 2099

The year is 2099. Victor von Doom, having mysteriously survived from the Heroic Age of the early 21st century, has risen anew in this technologically advanced future. Having retaken his beloved Latveria from those who ruled it in his absence, Doom has turned his gaze to America, once the home of his greatest foes. He sees unrest. He sees disharmony. He knows that the struggling nation needs an iron fist to bring it back under control. And he knows just the man for the job. All hail ... President Doom?! Superstar writer Warren Ellis' maniacal overhaul of Dr. Doom's futuristic series is collected in one volume, featuring technological horror, dystopian despots and more sheer wrongness than you can shake a gauntlet at!

COLLECTING: Doom 2099 24-39, material from 2099: The World of Doom
"...Doom's enemies have not the mettle to challenge him host to host, tooth to nail... As economic and military options fail them, they resort to simple rudeness."

Oh, in case it interests anyone, I found this regarding pitches for the 2099 line by Morrison and Millar that talks about a disabled Iron Man 2099 and a broken war veteran Captain America 2099 who would have formed an Avengers 2099 team eventually but was rejected.

Would Cable 2099 just be regular Cable because of the time travel mumbo jumbo?

You could have both the present day Wolverine and Deadpool still be alive and well in 2099.
Aunt May could possibly survive that long, too.

Wasn't really a die hard 2099 fan back in the '90s but I did read a few of the series (X-Men, Spiderman). Hoping that the rumors of Spiderman 2099 being Superior Spiderman are true.

IIRC, wasn't it stated somewhere that the 2099 WAS the actual future of the 616? Not some alt reality garbage?
Top 10:Cyclops. Nightcrawler. Magik. Juggernaut (Cain Marko). Magneto. Hulk. Mr.Sinister. Emma Frost. Legion. Dr. Nemesis.

My understanding is that 2099 is an alternate future reality. Certianly, the Marvel Database wiki gives it an alternate Earth number instead of 616 though I don't know whats the source on that. Assuming that is accurate.

I think it was originally promoted as THE future of the Marvel Universe but they've since backtracked on that. I will have to see if I can dig up some old inhouse ads or promos. I think there might have been an article about it at the time, published in the Wizard mag.

Yeah, I remember that, too. It was tied-in to the 616 in at least one story, the Spider-Man Meets Spider-Man 2099 graphic novel being one example that I can think of.

There were a few others: Halloween Jack appeared in X-Force and Doom 2099 appeared in Fantastic Four.

Marvel 616, don't have a future just a present, because there are myriads of alternate futures. Eg: Bishop is from around the same time, but he never appears in 2099. 616 follows the BFPU theory(Branching Future Parallel Universe), where every future happens just in a parallel universe.

I read all the original 2099 books and Doom 2099 was the best title by far. The US take over by Doom, plotted by Ellis, was such a good storyline. Spiderman was really good also. And I really liked (the original) Ghost Rider 2099.

Original? Did they change him or something?

Also, on Doom, is this 616 Doom who lives to the future or someone else?

The finale of the two Dooms storyline in issues 24-25 pretty much clears it up. Doom had lived past the Age of Heroes and still ruled Latveria but felt a certain presence which was never really explained. I wasn't sure if this was supposed to be the Phalanx or the other alien race (who's name escapes me). But he had decided to confront it and teleported (or maybe time traveled?) back to Margaretta's stronghold mortally wounded. She put him a stasis tube in her laboratory (she was a top flight geneticist) for 10 years while his body healed and regenerated. During this time, she was able to implant some of the memories of Erik Czerny, the son of the leader of Myridia. This plus the amnesia he struggled with after being healed caused the inner doubts that he had up until then. At least, that 's the way I remember it.

2099 would make a great official future to the ultimate universe. The end of the heroic age has alot in common with post ultimatum.
