That being said, the loud majority of people online complained about Bendis taking over Avengers, and it was the best thing to happen to Marvel since Claremont took over X-Men (the first time). In fact, I can't think of a thing Marvel has done that deviated from the stories we grew up reading that DIDN'T send the internet into an uproar. So Marvel has every right to ignore people who have far too many times abused of their right to complain.

We need to have the humility to recognize that it's mostly our fault, as a collective, for complaining too loudly about things that really weren't a big deal in hindsight. This Parker/Octavius thing certainly has the potential of ranking pretty high on the list of "things we complained about that really weren't a big deal in hindsight". Bendis did it in less than an issue with Ultimate Spider-Man and Wolverine. So what if this ends up lasting 2 issues instead of 1? Or even 20 issues. Does it really matter? Even two dozen issues are a drop of water in a 700-issue ocean.

Marvel can't tell when it's important feedback or not anymore, and who can blame them? If they listened to everything they read online, we'd be reading the exact same stories we all grew up on... like : Peter is conflicted about whether to continue being Spider-Man or not. Reed Richards has another showdown with Dr Doom. Hank Pym screws up. Captain America does the right thing - again, and again, and again... and while no one would be complaining, interest and sales would likely be so low that the industry would no longer be able to sustain itself.
Well said. The non-stop negativity and cynicism is tiresome. I enjoy reading people's opinions, as long as there is substance to them and not just endless snark. We know Peter Parker will eventually be Spider-Man so just enjoy the ride. Slott has been a great Spidey writer in my opinion. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on this storyline. Hell, the Spider-Island storyline sounds silly on paper but turned out to be pretty good. We even got a couple of good side stories from it.

As Stan always said, it's about the "illusion of change", as you don't want to change the characters too much from what everyone knows, else merchandising and everything else falls on the wayside.

I have been reading Spider-Man comics for years.
And i can say that ever since Slott became the solo writer of Amazing Spider-Man,that title have been consistently great story wise.
The upcoming stories untill ASM#700 and the mistery about Superior Spider-Man just seems as a continuation of the trend in the Spidey stories.
    Pull List:Uncanny Avengers,Avengers,Superior Spider-Man,Daredevil,All New X-Men,Hawkeye,Captain America,Thor:God of Thunder,Swamp Thing,Morbius,Thunderbolts,Iron Man,Fatale.
