I know. I'm just getting old, I guess. And I'm not reading Teen Titans because I couldn't get into it. I just clicked on the thread out of idle curiosity. So, I suppose I should just show myself out.

I think the artwork is definitely a step up from before. I like the way Red Robin is drawn as I feel it captures Tim's smaller, more acrobatic form. However, I think that Superboy looks too bulky, and Wonder Girl's abs are crazy lol.

It's probably selling where it is because Teen Titans is a title with quite a bit of name recognition. There is a lot of history behind that title. Though if it wasn't for the DotF arc coming up the title would probably dip out of the 40K range in the next several months.

Ofcourse its not being released in the 90s. But if you knew anything about music, dance, fashion, you can see that the video i linked to is done to have a 90s vibe. Everything from the backgrounds to outfits to the music and the way she had this Mariah Carey Butterfly, Honey kinda vibe to the song. This would be 90s.

For the past year Brett Booth's work has improved so much over the years since he did indie comics.
A 90s look would be similar to this

Ahd I find that Booth's art doesn't give me any 90s feeling at all. Neither does the story telling.
I'm not saying that Teen Titans is a masterpiece, I just think forum users have no clue what is the definition of 90s comics.

Ah yes, just another few issues to go until a new artist takes over Brett Booth for good. Can't wait.

It is the perception that the book is reminiscent of 90'ties comicbooks where everything had to be more EXTREME! and Rob Liefeld.

Yeah, that was the ballsy, awesome Wonder Girl. She was cool for a while, but became whiny. At the moment, she's not terribly written, but lacks any connection to Wonder Woman and has a convoluted backstory for what is got out of it.
Looking for artists, know I won't find any. That blows.

I much prefer Wonder Girl to have some connection to Wonder Woman. Even if they just had her armor belonging to Ares and not Trigon, that would give some kind of tangential relationship and provide something to start with for the two characters. There's no reason to tie the character to Trigon and it makes for a completely different character. Even when Supergirl was the Matrix character, there were ties to Superman. Now with Superboy being a clone...he's still tied to Superman. They tried to take Tim Drake out of Batman, but that didn't seem to work out well for them as too many fans expressed displeasure over it. Sadly, again, Wonder Woman isn't important enough to the company to keep her connections to characters that should be part of "her community".

I think I agree. Personality wise, I kind of like the new Cassie as being sassy and seemingly uncaring but does want to help as well as the whole thief/rogue girl thing. But don't like the new origin, would have preferred the armour being linked to Olympus in some capacity. Either Ares or some other Greek deities creation but Trigon? Seems a bit... out of nowhere. Plus, seems there is nothing linking her to Wonder Woman as there was the stuff in the pre-Flashpoint universe.

Looks like I'm the first one to buy and read it on this board today, so here's some opinions:

It's so good to have FabNic writing the dialogue for this book. It seems less clunky, more streamlined, has some well played humor and drama, and if you're a Red Robin, Volume 1 fan, it actually seems like a continuation of that character. Also, Superboy still sounds like the clone we've come to know through Lobdell's writing, making this a much more palpable mesh of the pre- and post-Flashpoint universes; we've got a character (Superboy) who was improved by the reboot written that way, and we've got Tim written like he was before he got exiled to the DCnU.

Diesel seems to be written now as a kind of almost-self-aware badguy, but still has that slimy selfishness that makes you feel less sorry about his fate, and his inability to grasp the sometimes painful nature of love (remember, it's as much an action as a feeling) gives us probably the first Wondergirl scene I've actually enjoyed of the reboot. Also, am I the only one thinking they've decided to drop the SB/WG love story in this book and just focus on RR/WG? Because that actually seems a bit like "turn-about is fair-play," when you consider the adult Trinity's current set-up. And the way they're writing Cassie here makes me actually kind of like the idea.

The little snippets of the rest of the team continues to showcase why FabNic writes a better Bart than Johns, and I'm enjoying how the team reads more like the friends of Young Justice than the angsty family of previous Titans runs. And the way the team is written here actually seems to avoid the "90's X-men" vibe we've gotten earlier. The same cannot be said for the Lance sub-plot, which really doesn't appeal to me all that much, since he does seem like he belongs in Image comics. Solstice is actually interesting to me for the first time ever, though, including her actual appearances pre-Flashpoint, so that's an improvement.

And the last page was a very nice teaser of "Death of the Family." I can't be the only one who appreciates how much fear the team has at the mention of the Joker, and it says something that they jump to the conclusion that Tim's been taken captive by him. This is their leader, who they know is one tough bird, and they immediately figure he's in over his head. Scary.

So long as Wonder Woman remains in the prison Brian Azzarello has built for her, there isn't anywhere for Wonder Girl to be from. She is not allowed a home base or a group of related characters that relate only to her.

This was alright. Nothing horrible, nothing great. A few things...

    - Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but Miguel screams "Chancho!", which is spanish for pig. But Miguel is from mexico, where I think they use "cerdo". I lived in Argentina for a while where they DO use Chancho, but when I went to spain I remember distinctly saying "Chancho" and no one understanding what I meant (but for an argentinian who happened to be staying at the hostel, who started chuckling).

    - You HAVE to laugh that, for whatever reason, the editors forced them to color in the naked 'human' form of Solstice for the moment it existed, despite the fact that she was covering all her naughty bits. Really, DC editorial? And a horrible color job.

    - Decent resolution, but the dialog is still a bit much. "That's what I used to look like!" says solstice when she looks in the mirror and sees an image of her old self. Really necessary?

    - Some fun moments with Bart and Miguel. Lots of personality in those two.

    - Didn't care for the artwork, and much prefer Booth. It felt insubstantial, rushed, simple without being evocative, poor storytelling, lame angles, no expressiveness....

    - Strong character work for Cassie when all was said and done.

    So yeah. Mixed bag.

Eh, I'm not that big of a fan of Booth. I like his detail and, but the only really expressive artist I've ever cared for was McDaniel. And I kind of liked the simplistic look for Garza. Probably comes from having read Spyboy.

And as bad as the coloring job was on Solstice, I can think of bigger snafus.

Like cheetahs in the Amazon. Or ambiguous villains embracing evil for the sake of evil.

Man I hate McDaniel. We're talking Liefeld territory, for me.

Sure, it was just hilariously obvious.
