REVIEW: Uncanny X-Force, #34

It was okay, but not great. I enjoyed the series until the end of the Dark Angel Saga, but now... I'm still interested in what happens to the team members but the stories leave me cold.
Villains I don't care about, and wayyy too many alternate realities/timelines.

Hopefully the last issue will be spectacular to make it all worth it.

Because, he would have came back. He would have tried to destroy the school and Logan couldn't afford to be such a hypocrite anymore. Betsy had to kill Warren, Fantomex had to kill a child, so it just wouldn't have been right to let Daken go.

There are some fairly insane comments on this thread (worse than the new Legacy...seriously).

I thought this issue was pretty awesome and a great statement on what revenge and solving things through violence and death, actually gets you in the end...nothing but regrets. I do admit, I didn't expect for most of it to be tied up in this issue and am wondering what's on the cards for the last issue.

This is why I don't come on the X-boards much. Some of these people are just too hard to please. I mean, seriously, Remender pretty much told you why the battle with Daken had to be anti-climatic. It would have undermined the whole issue if it was as big and beautiful as we thought it would be.

It was supposed to short, painful and brutal.

I sniffled a little. Great, great book.

I did too. I really didn't think Logan would drown him...We all know Daken will be back one day, but damn, that was a painful way to go for now.

I'm gonna miss Remender's run. The new UXF looks like crap. That will be the first title I drop from Marve Now. A bunch of ladies and Puck doesnt even compare to the team Remender has right now.

Obvious gripes have been brought up already ("Har har!", Daken drowning after a couple of minutes in a puddle... at least the latter makes the eventual resurrection realistic), but I have one more thing that bugged me that I haven't seen brought up yet...

It seems to have been retconned in Marvel Now! But Deadpool had lost his healing factor and gained his original appearance in a pretty recent story.

As opposed to Sabretooth who's just gonna leave Logan alone? Daken could have been redeemed/convinced to stay away MUCH easier than Sabretooth.

Some would rather talk about posters instead of talking about comic books, especially when coming to the defense of something they enjoyed, yet cannot grasp why others may not.

It's not a good look. Unfortunately, the dual Uncanny X-Force #34 threads have been rife with it.

Why is Deadpool so pretty underneath his mask?

In Deadpool (#53, I think) he was injected with a serum that seemingly cured him of his healing factor, thus reverting his appearance to the way he looked pre-Weapon X. In #63, it was revealed that the serum only temprorarily suppressed the healing factor and he was back to status quo disfigurement in time for Marvel Now Deadpool #1. Obviously, events in UXF occur before this happens.

Yeah. I don't expect everyone to like/dislike the same thing, but I get equally sick of "remender is ruining everything ZOMG" and sycophantic defenses.

I can see why people like this issue - I liked part of it - but I don't expect everyone to feel like me. I like to discuss it, and its merits and flaws, but I really dislike the dismissive "you can't be pleased."

Any comic that features Daken being drowned to death gets at least 4-stars IMO.

Agreed. It doesn't matter who the writer or artist is, any title that takes the initiative to wipe out Daken from the pages of the X-Men comics is immediately rewarded a minimum score of 2.5/5 stars in my book.

I may have some qualms with Marvel lately, but killing off Sentry (and keeping him dead this long) and now one of their other stupidest characters Dokken deserves some credit!
P.S. Agree that Noto was a bad match for this story.
