Life is what you make it.
Any ideas as to how to determine this? I'm looking, for instance, at a certain 4-issue series the final ish of which Lone Star lists as "Published March 2003." If this were Marvel or DC or I'm sure one of the larger indies, that (a) probably means a cover date of 3/03, which (b) in turn translates to actual publication in probably November or December 2002.
Is that true for all non-fly-by-night publishers, period? In this instance, the outfit in question is Oni Press.

I tend to split superhero comics fans into "People who like Krypto" and "People who don't like Krypto."

No, no, no ... The correct answer is:
"Dan can choose whatever the heck he wants to, based on whatever half-assed justifications he feels like bothering to come up with."

It occurs to me after rereading this thread that I need to make obvious what I'd hoped to keep implicit: the inclusion of reprint titles was an intentional cheat so that certain runs that were otherwise ineligible could be included. It's there to help, not hinder. Throw all the caveats about crappy recoloring in that your heart desires but please don't cheat yourself out of a preferred choice.

Even more startlingly, the ramifications of your efforts extended all the way to the middle of Alabama, where my own computer was shut down for a similar period.
Cei-U! might want to reconsider this arbitrary & capricious requirement. We could all be knocked offline for long stretches.

Which is appreciated. But it still feels like cheating to me, so I'm trying to avoid it. In fact, if I can manage it, I'd like to avoid mini-series as well, and make my list out of nothing but prematurely cancelled titles. Note that I'm not suggesting anyone else limit themselves this way...it's strictly my own peculiar brand of masochism when assembling these lists. ;-)
Can we get a final rundown of the rules and regulations before we start posting?
I'm in for this.... I need to look into my collection and figure this one out.
"If you live among wolves you have to act like a wolf."
I just discovered that the final issue of an 8-issue series I like a lot is cover-dated January 2003.
Can I interest anyone in the Pacific Northwest in swinging by Cei-U!'s sanctum santorum in Tacoma &, ummm, reasoning with him -- with or without the use of a blunt object -- about the 12/02 cover date cutoff?
Thanks!
