I'd imagine they aren't good for reading comics. I have a Samsung Infuse, which has a larger screen than last gens iPhone, probably the same size screen as the current gen. I wouldn't even think of reading a comic on it.

Depends on the spesific comic. I use the guided view in Comixology.
For example, Fatale and the Arrow tie in series are easy to read on my iPhone, Winter Soldier sadly is not. The more linear the panels the easier to read. If you're getting an iPhone 5, you'll have a bigger screen to play with.

They're good for re-reading comics.
They're not ideal for reading a comic for the first time, but I do enjoy reading comics I've already read at work on mine. Having already read it means you don't miss the details so much on the small screen.

Iphones are barely good for reading the incoming phone numbers and text. Pictures that small of any kind are not meant to ever be classed as "good."

I was lucky enough to buy Comic Reader Mobi before Apple kicked it off iTunes, and that was OK, because at the touch of the screen you could expand a speech bubble up enough to read, so it made it passable to read on an iphone.
By no means perfect though.
The Hod: Novelist, raconteur and celebrated sexual athlete.
You can read them using the guided view, but personally I'd want a screen large enough to get a proper look at pages as a whole. The zoomed in, guided view just isn't the same as being able to appreciate the full page layout.
