How many successful NEW heroes have DC created in the last ten years?

Actually, Marvel has had many successful new characters added such as: Avengers Academy (all new characters for the first 20 or so issues), the Young Avengers (mostly legacy characters), Jessica Jones, Gravity, and Generation Hope.

DC has had some successful new villains as well, such as Hush.

Jessica Jones just misses 10 years.

Pixie has also been a very successful newer character in the X-books. She's graduated to being on a main team and she's been developed a good deal. X-23 has also gotten quite the push since her debut.

Firestorm was not created in the last ten years. He was created in 1978, and in his original form, was probably the last totally new character not associated with an existing brand that DC ever created.

What about Bronze Tiger, New Gods, Vixen and Black Lighting? Or Raven, Cyborg, Vibe and Starfire-or do they not count since they were linked to Teen Titian & JLA? Then throw in Booster Gold & Blue Devil.

That said, the current audience has been showing an outright hostility to any and all efforts to try new stuff, both at DC and Marvel.

And that's why we have so many new guys linked to others.

As of right now there are none.

I don't think he counts as a succesfull new character, or he'd still be around.

Not valid as there are TONS of guys who have way more success than some of the guys who got books that are no where to be found with Doom Patrol, 2 ex-Batgirls, Milestone guys, Outsiders, Wildcats, Wally West, Donna Troy, Ted Kord, Question, various Gotham females and others leading the way.
