Well normal might be a stretch. I don't think most people carry the guilt complex Pete stacks on his back. As for connecting emotionally...I dunno. Sure with people he's close to like MJ and May etc. But a lot of the times it seems like he keeps other heroes and other people away. I always thought of him as the joker in the group that doesn't open up. Now he still has his moments where he'll give one of his great speeches, (I liked how he got Steve to draw comics again.) but I would say that isn't his normal mode of operation.
It's true everyone views him with respect. But it's a sort of idealistic respect. The other heroes will one moment say "Spider-Man, yeah he's definitely the best one of us." But the next no one will drive home and he has to have the hulk hop him home. (I mean that's great, and funny and one of the reasons he's such a popular character.) And when he was married to MJ he wasn't beta, at least towards her. But after OMD. With that girl (whose name I can't remember) that he was roommates with for a while. And with Carlie, and even now with getting back with MJ. I mean one of the first things Doc does in 698 is be like "Why am I not with MJ? I'm going to her ask her out."
given what we know about Superior Spider-Man I say the perfect match would now be Felicia Hardy, they're perfect for each other now, plus imagine how awesome it would be when Amazing comes back and finds himself married with children to Felicia :D hilarity and insanity will ensue
As long as Superior Spider-Man is not Dr. Ock. Her bad luck powers would snuff him out. Besides that, it would be interesting to see a Hawkeye x Black Cat partnership in a guest in his series. That would be fun to see. Considering that Dan Slott might have had plans to kill off Black Cat, why would she return to Spider-Man's world?
and that's fine, as far as I understand the Superior Spider-Man will be darker and edgier it will not be Peter Parker but Peter IS in the book, so Doc Oc is perfect for the role. Felicia adores Spider-Man but can't accept Peter, now that we got a darker and edgier Peter she has found her perfect match, and having a wife that is okay with stealing and doing lesser bad things, Doc Oc will have the best of everything. Super hot wife that doubles as a thief and the life of a young genius inventor that doubles as a super hero he'll get to do much more than Peter ever could... and be SUPERIOR at it :D
still, we all know that the 2nd Amazing Spider-Man movie is coming in 2014/2015 so they'll bring Peter back before then, and probably continue with issue #701, but until then I hope we get a lot of fun stories with this new Peter :)
still anybody else finds it weird that Doc used to want to marry aunt May and now his her nephew :S
The thing is that I am not sure if Otto is interested in Felicia Hardy to being with. And I doubt that he would reveal himself to Felicia anyway. I would suspect that Peter would take a trip to Hell for a while, like Spawn:
And the plot twist is that Peter's mind might be placed in Deadpool's body:

I think we can agree that degrees of immaturity can be subjective too. Some may consider the need to still feel and showcase machismo 24/7 like Stark, Johnny Storm and Wolverine to be a greater sign of immaturity while others may think Peter's need to cling to some aspects of his past as a higher form of immaturity. Personally, I feel Peter's type of immaturity is less so than the other dudes mentioned here, but still, Mr. P needs to get over his issues fast. Hopeful for what Slott has planned for #700.
