    Ugh, not this again.

Bendis is a great writer whose Avengers run enjoyed critical and commercial success and got thousands of people interested in the Avengers. He has his weaknesses (like any writer) and did experience creative burn out towards the end but threads like this just reek of fan over reaction to their favorite character not getting the spotlight or being written differently. Not to mention fans who refuse to accept new ideas or characters in the Avengers.

No amount of modern revisionism by the vocal internet minority can change the good work Bendis has done.
Adults struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life when the answer is obvious to the smallest child: because it's not real. - Grant Morrison

While I am generally loathe to quote a post and cite "THIS", UT has pretty much encapsulated the core and the truth of Bendis' time as the Avengers lead writer.

I think the last line needs the most stressing, so I'll quote it a second time. Maybe with a little bolding for emphasis. Perhaps a touch of font size increasing too.

Because it really does need stressing.

And it's more than that. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions; that's why we're here. It's the uncritical "opinion presented as fact/Bendis doesn't get the Avengers like I do" stuff that brings things down, rather than an great critical debate.

Just because you didn't feel that his run had quality, does not mean others feel that way. That is why opinions are like assholes everybody got one.
