    Yeah it's not worth $4, but I see it as giving the primary story that much time to catch my interest. Seeing as it still hasn't, I'll likely drop it once the backup's finished, which I think is next issue.

    Honestly, I've given worse books longer, so this doesn't seem so bad.

    Liked it.

    Beowulf is still neat, and it's a punchy little concept-story. Art is great, as he always is.

    Main story is consistently entertaining the crap out of me. They could introduce a new trope stock character from a different colored gemstone house every month and that'd be enough to keep the illusion of "NEATO" going for me, with a none-the-wiser "didn't Green Lantern and like everything else ever do the same thing?" question never mattering. I liked the anti-prima noctra move from Middle-Diamond. I liked Amy's lousy public-speaking skills.

    It's incredibly trope-laden, but I feel like once Amy starts being the P.O.V. when she meets these very trope-heavy characters, her sarcasm will send itself to a nice touch of self-aware humor.

    Well this months issue of Amethyst was kind of dull and talky, but i guess Beowulf made it up for it in action.

    I've only seen the Beowulf movie so the use of highly advanced sci-fi technology leaves me a little confused especially with the Wayentech Robots (!) and someone said that he could be a clone of Deathstroke and i am thinking he must be related to him in some ways since they do look a lot alike and seem to have the same chop-everything- in-your-path feel as the last book.

    I'm on the fence about both of these stories but for this month Beowulf wins out.

    SPOILERS

    -'Beowulf' (who I think is either Deathstroke or a clone of him) jumps up to save the kid (forget his name) from 'Grendel' (clone gone wrong);
    -During the fight, Beowulf scans Grendel and a computational program (I assume he's had cybernetic implants or whatever) scans through the creature's biological makeup and cross references it with Animal Man, Beast Boy, the Red, the Rot, etc.;
    -Beowulf loses his sword after severing Grendel's arms and being stabbed in the chest by Grendel's tail... unfortunately, Grendel can sprout and regrow limbs at whim;
    -Beowulf is about to be killed as all the other men flee in fear, but the kid fetches his sword and throws it back to him, after which, Grendel runs off;
    -Beowulf is sent to the fjord that Grendel supposedly lives with, and is assigned the captain of the guard as a guide, which he refuses (opting for the kid instead).
    -Both the kid and Beowulf come to the conclusion that the captain of the guards deliberately sent the kid up there knowing the window wasn't barred properly;
    -They arrive at the forbidden fjord, which is actually a holographically disguised military-looking base which, upon entering, is apparently filled with test-tubes of deathstroke/beowulf clones in stasis;
    -A woman (bald, pale, green get up) emerges, saying she's Grendel's mother...

    I have no idea if the woman is meant to be someone from the DCU or not (I assume she is, but can't figure out WHO she is/is connected to).
    thanks for that. And I never even considered the Deathstroke connection! Can't wait for the synopsis of #3's Beowulf - that's supposed to be the conclusion and reveal what caused the post-apocalyptic DCU!
    Comics were happier before the Internet turned writing superhero stories into fruitless attempts to impress/entertain a small group of ppl who appear to hate comics and their creators.

    Sword of Sorcery #2

    Plot:

    Princess Amaya and her mother arrive safety to their destination. From there, Amaya must prove herself whether she will travel the path of heart or of blood.

    Our Hero:

    Oh yeah, total fish out of water.

    Our Villain:

    And I grow more intrigued by the moment. What is your game lady?

    Our Side Characters:

    For a prince, that guy looks like he is in his late 30s or 40s.

    Action:

    Mind connecting action! If there is any…

    Dialogue:

    Seriously, Amy/Amaya is right! Tell her something dammit!

    Art:

    The prettiness continues forward!

    Most Memorable Moment:

    Such loving and caring brothers.

    Final Page:

    Oh I know where this is going! She’ll spare Amaya so she can lead her to the dark side and rule the kingdoms as Aunt and Niece!

    What We Should Take from This Comic:

    Amaya is starting to realize that even she though she knew about her destiny, she knows very little about the world she has returned to. The question is why?

    What We Do Take From This Comic:

    Amaya is so in over her head.

    Yay or Nay?

    Yay

    Ok I picked up the Zero & First issue. I really liked both stories. How would you rate the 2nd issue? Should I pick it up?

    If you liked the first 2 you'll like the third as well.

    This, Dynamite's The Shadow, and a couple of Valiant titles continue to be my most anticipated titles each month. For this title, I like both the main story and the back-up. No complaints at all.

    Really like this book. Love all the world building and family politics. The dialogue is on-point, readable and fun without being too cliche, adds to the characterization nicely. Lopresti is doing easily the best work of his career. Beowulf does nothing for me (aside from the art), but I'm just loving Amethyst.

    Really want to like this title: have good memories of the first incarnations (though I haven't read them in...could it be decades?!); but so far, I'm coming down on DaronK's side, who wrote "I, unfortunately, continue to be unimpressed with the Amethyst story. It's not bad, it's not boring, I just can't bring myself to care about anything that's happening in this story." My problem entirely.

    I've logged on after an indeterminate amount of time just to (hopefully) convince somebody this is the book they should be reading! I am thoroughly enjoying Sword and Sorcery and am reminded why fantasy comics are aces!
