In the new Comic Shop News, there is an interview for the new Alpha miniseries. In it the writer Joshua Fialkov mentions that Alpha goes back and forth to Horizon Labs to meet with Peter Parker. So we know Pete is alive, just may not be Spidey anymore.

The question is, if it is Doc, then why would he need feet hooks and eye lens? Unless the mind swamp is making him lose his powers cause the Spider-God's chose Pete not Oct. They did mention that his scar wasn't healing as quickly as normal.

Actually, that would be the Doc Ock thing to do.....

Are we certain that that is set post-ASM #700? Can't recall if so.

I feel like we still have no idea who is going to be behind the mask in superior spider-man. I really don't think it's going to be peter with a new name or spock. I'm curious to see who will take over. These last two books can't come out soon enough.

Agreed. It's not going to be Spock. I'm beginning to wonder if having Doc's mind in his body is going to cancel out Peter's powers. I don't know how this would happen, but I'm curious. Also, didn't Julia say something about someone else being able to take over the role of the spider in one of her visions (or was she talking about Kaine)?

Somehow someone is getting new spider-powers. I'll bet that Spoke goes up against Norman, loses, and somehow Peter get's control of his body again - maybe powerless. And someone else is going to get spider-power (or Peter loses his powers, and somehow makes new powers). Blah blah blah...

I didn't say it did, but there should be some kind of foreshadowing.

Someone else pointed this out to me, but there's some strange business going on in the first few pages.

Doctor Octopus is struggling to say Peter Parker's name while in the hospital gurney in the Raft. The Golden Octobot leaves from the direction of the raft towards the direction of New York City.

Later it's revealed that Peter Parker is trapped in Doc Ock's body, and that's why he kept saying his name, perhaps as a way to get the attention of the Avengers.

I figured the opening was the Octobot going after Spidey. But it doesn't quite jibe if Doctor Octopus has already swapped bodies with Spidey.

    So what's going on there?
    Sincerely,
    Thomas Mets
