    Default After Arkham, what next?

As we all know, many of Batman's rougues have to go to Arkham Asylum for the criminally insane. Quite the few of them have comitted some murders, some more than others. ALL of them have done criminal activity, but end up thrown in the madhouse because they are "craaazy". Now, say that one of the criminals were "cured"; what would happen to them afterward? Would they just be let out and off the hook for the various crimes they committed? Would they be thrown in jail afterward to pay for their crimes? Community service?

Also, as a fun little bonus question, out of the Gotham rouges gallery who are Arkhamites (sorry Selina, Bane, Oswald, the rest), who do you believe would be able to adjust to society?

If Bruce's story was ever allowed to end, I'd like to see Harvey cured.

Kind of like how they finally let Superman un-shrink Kandor back in the Bronze Age after so many years of struggling with it. I like the way various writers have kind of built up the pre-Two-Face friendship between Batman and Harvey, so it would be cool to see that resolved with a success before Bruce retired.

In the US legal system, you definitely wouldn't go to jail afterward. That's against fundamental rights under the Constitution. Basically, only new trials on still-triable crimes is the only way a released criminal or released formerly insane person is going to jail or be punished in any way.

Now, say that one of the criminals were "cured"...who do you believe would be able to adjust to society?
When murder or multiple murder is involved, being deemed "cured" anytime short of a very very long time (if at all) is not realistic, not what happens.

DC discarded their history, and now has none. DC will always be in the shadows of their past work.

Really this is one of the hardest to swallow parts of the bigger Batman franchise. These people would all be in max facilities or dead. So my opinion is, don't think about it realistically, it's a plot device.

I agree with booyah. That said, if this were real and someone was deemed "cured" (which would be hard considering what they all do), (I could see this happening with maybe Mr. Freeze or Harley Quinn.) they'd probably be released on a strict probation with medication and mandatory regular therapist appointments.
