    Morning people.

Spending the last day of the year replacing the starter in my Jeep.
What have I always believed? That, on the whole, and by and large, if a person lived properly, not according to what any priests said, but according to what seemed decent and honest inside, then it would, at the end, more or less, turn out ok.

Are Jeep Drivers known as "Jeepers"?

I spent almost two years near that town during my time in the Navy, in a little base in Garons, never heard of that.

Not that back then i was all that interest by the town's history though.

Not really, there's a show on later, but it starts at 3pm, so I'll have a few early drinks and then duck out. I will share a bottle of this when I get back http://cellarandkitchen.adnams.co.uk...r-10-abv-750ml

    No, "Creepers."

    Happy 2013 everyone!

I am reading my way through my Christmas comics stash. My quickie reviews:

SAGA Volume 1 - Beautiful artwork, designs, world building, and excellent characterization, but not my cup of tea.

CONAN Volume 6 - An attempt and completing Howard's incomplete story: THE HAND OF NERGAL. Not bad. Not as successful as the earlier Truman adaptations.

CONAN Volume 7 - CIMMERIA - Disappointing. How do you take something as fast paced as Conan and turn it into a bunch of panels with talking heads?

Nah, special workout class this morning that should be fun and then working on the jeep. Partied with the girls on Saturday so the urge to drink is over.

I am a major downer on New Years Eve. I hate going out, and I know a few tragic tales of people getting killed by drunk drivers.

This year, however, I have a drinking buddy in my daughter, who happens to like rum. And I still have an unopened container of egg nog in the fridge ....

I've never been a fan of New Year's parties, too much forced fun and too many drunks on the road so i will again stay at home and listen to the gunfire at midnight.

I'd tip a beer to you as well but it is 7:50 am, so maybe in 8 hours.

My girlfriend and I are just staying in. We're gonna have whoopie pies (not a euphemism) and watch Fringe and Game of Thrones.

Nathan is supposed to have some friends coming over. Apparently we're eccentric enough as parents that we're fun and not intimidating.

I've never been big on the forced gaiety of New Years Eve.

I thought whoopie pies were a local Amish thing.

Heh, a quick Google search and browsing a wikipedia article suggests there is controversy over the origin. The Amish as well as New Englanders claim it.

It's nice to know comic nerds aren't the only ones to get unreasonable about origins.
