I love music and many others that visit this forum do too. However when listening to the radio or watching MTV (do they still play music anyway?) I get so tired of the same generic crap that's played everywhere. There are so many brilliant bands, singer-songwriters etc around the world that should get more attention imo, so that's why I started this thread. Everyone knows quite a couple of their favourite artists in their country/region that are deserving of a little more attention, so why not list them here...
When listing you recommendations please mention where that artist is from and what genre(s) it is and a song on youtube or similar for reference. No need to list mainstream stuff like the Madonna's, Rihanna's and such of the world. We all know them already.
To start with here are some recommendations from the Netherlands, that I think should be interesting to others:
Sabrina Starke - Backseat Driver and Do For Love (R&B/Soul)
Alain Clark - Nympho and Father and Friend (R&B/Soul)
Carice van Houten - Particle of Light (singer-songwriter)
Candy Dulfer - Pick Up The Pieces (Jazz/funk)
Caro Emerald - Back It Up (Pop/50's sound)
Giovanca - Joyride and Drop It (Pop/Soul/R&B)
