Pesky Johnny Thunder question

I've read a small handful of not-yet-reprinted Johnny Thunder stories, but nowhere near the majority, so I ask:

Did Johnny Thunder have a job?

My impression is that though he's seen working in his debut story, most of the time he's just bopping around fighting crimes, with no visible means of support. I don't think his Silver Age appearances mention a job either.

Given that most union-suit superheroes still had to work for a living, this seems an odd omission for DC's resident dunderhead.

It was less that he was a screw-up and more that his powers inadvertently caused him grief on the job.

Yeah, I forgot about the other guy - Who's certainly way more prominent in today's superhero-centric mindset. (I was actually reading my collection of All-American Western (two issues, one coverless) and the Whatever Happened to Johnny Thunder story in DC COMICS PRESENTS today.)

Thanks, that makes sense given the writer's need to plop JT down wherever the story of the day demanded.

EDIT: It now occurs to me to wonder how a day-jobber ever managed to adopt a little girl, the obnoxious-sounding Peachy Pet. According to one online source, she got a regular job as a yogurt store manager in adulthood. I don't remember any modern author like Johns giving Johnny a regular job any more than did Gardner Fox in the 60s.

He was a student (at Happy Harbor High School, I guess).

I believe it was in the same athletic conference as Mayfield, Pleasantville, and Blue Valley.

Didn't Snapper miss the Johnny Thunder centered Crisis story for taking a college entrance exam? Anyhow, Johnny Thunder's Earth-1 alternate at least had a steady line of work (as a crook).

In between working at STAR and becoming a Checkmate agent, Snapper lead the space based super hero team the Blasters, returned to Earth, went back to school, got married, then divorced (making $ all this time fixing cars under the table, and maybe a loan or two from his rich uncle at Queen Industries), turned his JL case files into a best seller, hooked up with Young Justice and came into more $ when "some cartoon used him as a reporter" (JLU was on the air at this time, obviously). If he was ever a reporter in the comics themselves, I'm unaware of it.
