Are Dark Horse tpb versions over-priced?

Eh, I don't know about that. The binding in DH trades tend to be a little shoddy, especially some of the earlier Hellboy trades. To their credit though the people DH have acknowledged the issue and in some cases offered to replace certain trades so you won't hear me complain too much as that's excellent customer service.

Oh, they can be - I mean even the B.P.R.D. Omnibus editions can feel a little flimsy at times (particularly with the first pages), but then again I've had sections fall out of Image trades (actually the majority of Ultra: Seven Days fell out of my own copy), sections fall out of Crossgen trades and my Titan edition of Watchmen is misprinted towards the rear, cutting off a couple of bits of dialogue. So they're not alone in occasionally printing trades that aren't perfect.

But the paper and printing quality, to me, typically feels a lot better than Marvel/DC.

The paper quality and the coloring are indeed top notch, which I suppose is the important part when it comes to the stories them selves, but I've never had as many binding problems with any of my Marvel or DC books as I do with my DH volumes.

I've not bought their Omnibus line cause it's in Digest format. If they ever printed Ghost, X, Indiana Jones, Aliens etc in at least an OHC format and still call it Omnibus I'd be all over buying those.
