Oh, sorry. I posted the Captain America cover because of the angle at which it was drawn and w/ Falcon and Nomad standing to the side in dejection, giving centre stage to the battered body of Roscoe/'Cap'.

It is rather obvious when read in sequence that the Captain America on the cover is not Steve Rogers, because Steve had taken up the Nomad identity at that point; and I also find it a powerful cover because it has some foreshadowing in previous issues where several civilians (self-styled badasses) decide to become Captain America and end up badly bruised. But you still didn't know if Roscoe will actually kick the bucket, or if this is another exaggerated 'someone dies!' cover, until you read the issue.

The best part for me is that the "villain" / "antagonist" looks to be the most scared character on the cover.

    Not to be too offtopic--

But are most of you scanning these covers yourselves, or are you aware (as I am not) of some vast treasure-trove of cover-scans that CBR will accept?

I know that when I go looking for cover-scans I can never find anything that will reproduce properly here.
Dare you delve into... THE ARCHETYPAL ARCHIVE?

    Why, it's... NATURALISTIC! UNCANNY! MARVELOUS!

    Well, I use www.coverbrowser.com

and sometimes also uncannyxmen.net when I'm looking for specific X-Men stuff, particularly more obscure titles.

And I also find that www.comicvine.com has a good collection of hotlinkable/uploadable cover scans and interior artwork scans.

To my mind, Carmine Infantino was one of the greatest cover designers in the history of the medium. Not only did he do some very influential designs which we see still being referenced to this day (even if sometimes the artists don't even know it), but he also worked with and oversaw other artists on some spectacular covers (including masterpieces by Neal Adams and Nick Cardy).

This cover for me is one of the greatest of all for a multitude of reasons--both sentimental and intellectual.
