Much of this thread is personal favorite covers or books, not that there is anything wrong with that.
But it's amazing that no one has posted this yet.

I always really liked this one. worstblogever once commented that he thinks it's not a very powerful cover, because it could have featured a snippet of the action featured in the book, instead of the image of Kitty crying while carrying her suitcase.
But I like it a lot, and when I saw it in the comic book store, it made me curious as to its contents, back when I had not read a lot of pre-1985 X-Men comics.
Okay, so I admit the ad at the top of the cover is not very elegant, and I had to take a look in my stuffy old boxes to find out how the Dutch publishers of this comic's translation handled things: they basically left the entire part where the ad would be in the same colour green as the rest of the wall. It gets filled up a bit by the over-sized De X-Mannen title, and the 'Juniorpress presenteert' ('Juniorpress presents') line.

Cool, thanks for posting that. I'm having trouble getting images to work with the site I usually use, photobucket.
So many great covers have been posted, I can't keep them all in my head or even quote them all - Frazetta, Starlin, Kirby, Cardy, the Infantino/Anderson Spectre, Hernandez ....
That reminds me: is Nick Cardy mainly known for his cover work or did he ever have a long stint on the interiors of a series. Looking at his wiki article, I was thinking the best bet for me would be DC horror anthologies like House of Mystery, etc, in which he seemed to do a fair bit of artwork. And I see there's an Art of Nick Cardy book out as well - anyone seen it?
I love those Spectre covers but have a sneaking suspicion the stories inside might be a let-down... I should try them sometime, though.
Starlin was such a great cover and interior artist in the 70s, but I haven't enjoyed his later work nearly as much.
