'Walking Dead' is obviously the big one, but my favourite modern horror comics have been from Manga Artist Junji Ito, especially 'Uzumaki' and 'Gyo'. Genuinely unsettling stuff.

I'll have to check those out, I was also thinking about checking out that crossed series, I heard its messed up pretty hardcore
'Crossed' is deeply, deeply messed the fuck up.
Alan Moore's 'Neonomicon' is also pretty good... but yes, fucked up.
If you ever, EVER get the chance to get your mitts on old copies of a comic series called 'Taboo'. Do it. Just the most insanely good comics horror anthology. Ridiculously good.

Locke and Key is very good as well.
Morning Glories is... hard to pin a genre on, but it has very strong horror elements.
'The marquis. Well, you know, to be honest, he seems a little bit dodgy to me.'
'Mm,' she agreed. 'He's a little bit dodgy in the same way that rats are a little bit covered in fur."
Hellboy & BPRD are a good choice for the pulpier end of horror.
And if "fucked up" is your thing, check out John Smith's Cradlegrave and prepare to puke.
"We must fight on!"
"We'll die. We fight and we die, that's how it goes."
"Then we die gloriously!"
"There's an important word there, and it's not gloriously."

The Goon has a strong following amongst horror fans. And Dark Horse has a whole horror line. Colder sounds okay. But Ex Sanguine looks like the real hit, there. It's from Tim Seeley, the creator or Hack/Slash, another good horror series. (At least the admittedly few issues I've read.)
Another one I like is Scott Snyder's American Vampire. The first two collections were great, but some people have said it slips later on in the series.
Finally, The Sixth Gun is more supernatural than horror, but it's been outstanding. You can read the first issue for free on Comixology.
