How many chances should a character get to carry their own book?

2 more reasons why you see the same characters getting their own titles over and over

1-Writers and artists refuse to create original characters for Marvel under the current work-for-hire contracts. Why give Marvel an original character when you will lose all rights to it? Better off trying your luck with Image,Vertigo or another company where you can keep your copywrite
2-Marvel is just not interested in new solo characters anymore. Marvel dosn't look at the long term rewards new characters can bring. Its all about movies and merchandising their existing assets. They would rather color an old character red or reveal a daughter/son for a new book.

Marvel was once known as the House of Ideas. Its been about 20 years since they had one for a new title

I agree tyhat it's a shame that Marvel isn't making a bigger push for new characters but at the same time, there are hundreds of underused characters floating around the Marvel U at this point. All it takes is a good writer to make what's old, new again. A good example would be anything by Jeff Parker. Let Jeff Parker pull some Geoff Johns magic and see what happens.

I don't thin there's a limit. Times change. Concepts and characters go in and out of fashion.

If they feel there's a market for something, or if a writer has a fresh take on a character (see: Hawkeye, Captain Marvel)...then a new solo is in order.
