Default What's the most you ever paid for a comic book?

How much have you ever paid for a comic and what was it? At the same time, how much is the most valuable book you own and what is it?

Personally and possibly unfortunately, I have never paid more than cover price for a book. On the flip side, I think the last time i had one of any financial value was Amazing SpiderMan 300, but I sold it back in the day for about $40 :(

I paid $250 for a self published comic by Josh Howard. I no longer own it. What is it's value? Who knows, none have ever been auctioned. Mine sold for a fair bit more than I paid though.
The current most expensive comic I have is one I just bought. The self published Love And Rockets #1. I bought it for around $200. I've seen them sell for over $400, but the sale prices on them vary pretty severely. I think I got a good deal though.
The vast majority of my collection was bought at cover price or less.

$15, and that was back in the '80s for the Adams Avengers #93. That's for a single issue, though. I think I have more than one trade that cost more.

Few years ago I bought Hulk 181 for about $360. It was advertised 7.0 but I'm sure it'll pass as 8.0
    and that's about it.
All the other books I own were bought for the art. While more and more people are getting into comic books for the same reason I don't think it will ever get to the point to make me rich. Also, I could not sell them anyway. So I think the biggest reason I bought that Hulk 181 is for the future generations. One day, when they look through the collection they inherited from the Gramps, they can't say that old fart haven't had a single key issue in the pile of the heap he left to us.
Just to be on the safe side.

Other than that perhaps the only other issue in my collection that might generate some wider interest and$$$ is the great John Buscema drawn Sub-Mariner #1 in NM condition.
Off course what would be a nice collection without some offbeat comics no one ever heard of, nor they are listed in any of the Overstreet guides, but how do you put price on something that might exist only in very few collections to your knowledge?
I'm just glad that there aren't many more people into comics because of the art. Those books usually fly under the radar so to speak, hence I don't have to spend a fortune to acquire them.

I bought Spectacular Spider-Man # 200 for cover price, then saw it for sale in the same store for around £40 a few months later. No idea if that was an official valuation or anything. I've still got it boxed in my parents' loft somewhere.

I generally won't even pay cover price for a comic, I usually go for ones I can get for a dollar or less, but I paid $40 for a really nice Fantastic Four 51. And maybe $30 for a really nice Thor 126. The FF book is my favorite story, the Thor book is my favorite cover.

There have been others in the $20, $10 range. I recently dropped about $100 on a lot of about 12 relatively rare Undergrounds. And I've probably bought a few $30 trade paperbacks. I know I paid $30 for Absolute Authority, which was still a bargain price compared to the new.

But mostly it's the dollar bin for me.

I think about $12 on a Batman back-issue that was maybe two months old? I would never pay an outrageous price for 22 pages worth of story.

The Brave & the Bold #28. Cost me a ton in the late 80's when I was going through my JLA completist phase. As for what's the most valuable I have no idea but it's almost certainly one the Silver Age DC's I have.

I forgot about the second part of the question. I'm not sure what my most valuable comic is, the one I see selling for the most is Absolute Authority, though.

Most valuable? I'd say my spider woman ones. Issue 1 is a reprint sadly but the two other ones are the old ones. Cost me 50p each ;) aka 50 bucks

I think it was $90 for GS X-Men #1... back in the early 80s.

    I think it was £250 for a copy of World's Finest #10. I think that's just under $400.
