That Quesada variant cover makes Cap look zombified.

This title is the one I am betting on as the best of marvel now.

Couldn't be more excited about a Kirby/EC influenced Captain America by this team.

Brubaker was great, but it started to get repetitive. Cap is like Batman in that you can have different intepretations that work.

Agreed. Brubaker was great in the beginning, but he hasn't been quality on this title since around the time he brought Steve back, and the "dark spy stories guest starring Captain America in stories where he never really wins" was getting old. I can't wait for this new, Kirby influenced take on Steve.

I like it already. I think Cap has been too dark as of late and done some really morally compromising things, that other writers would not have touched. i think we're going to see both dignity and credibility restored to Cap, and he will be a hero's hero.

Not sure how I feel about the "Steve Rogers of Mars" angle we'll get, but I'm hopeful that Cap as the "hero's hero" makes an appearance.

Looking forward to seeing Armin Zola-centric villainy and a younger Steve during the Thirties. I will say that I hope Remender won't go about culling the character's supporting cast given how fond he is of death...

I wouldn't be surprised about that one. I relent. I will try it: not liking the creative team aside, there are elements I see in that new preview art that makes me believe Remender really does want to do something a little different. At least to start with.

coldwarmyth, i pretty much am in the same boat as you...the creative team doesn't do as much for me as it does to other people, but the premise behind the book that seem interesting...

I'll definitely give this one a couple of months...besides Hickmans stuff, this might be it for me and Marvel Now...

Hope the first issue will be good enough to keep me on board. John Romita's artwork has really grown on me. I used to hate it.

Any word on Sharon Carter's status in this book? Is she gonna have a role in this?

This should be a good change of pace from the last volume.

Bru is the man, but the whole schtick with the mad bombs got tired. I liked the witness protection and American dreamers story lines though.

I'm really hoping that Remender doesn't kill anybody off in his tenure, as he seems often inclined to do. but then again this first arc is out of the mainstream U so that should keep that at bay.

Really interested in where he takes this.
Steve Rogers: You ready to follow Captain America into the jaws of death?
James Barnes: Hell, no! The little guy from Brooklyn who was too dumb not to run away from a fight. I'm following him."

I believe it's been said she'll appear in the book, but doing what specifically is yet to be known.

Think she is supposed to be in this first issue, beyond that, I have no idea.

Yeah, I will stick by this for a while -gigantic headed children not withstanding- ...I really saw a lot in that issue 2 art that makes me think of what Remender has said in the interviews so I am hoping he can continue my enjoyment of Cap.
