Interesting to me that so far not one person has guessed a completely new character we don't know, and nobody has guessed Alpha (who was a really popular guess a month ago). Has it been confirmed that it's not Alpha? Just because of that miniseries? Couldn't the miniseries exist as a set up to how Alpha became Spiderman?

Eddie Brock. No way in hell is he dead, he has no symbiote and would have all the ninja gadgets to compensate for the lack of powers.

I really hope it's not Alpha. Didn't care for that character at all. But hey, that would give me a reason to drop Spider-Man without doubting about it!!;-)

Can I guess 616 Miles Morales? Peter was definetly surprised in the Spider-men epilogue. Or Vin Gonzales, by the matter.

Guess what? Since it's not Peter, I'm fine with anyone. I'm just glad if Peter won't be Spider-man anymore. Let him some peace, a cool girlfriend (not-MJ, not-Felicia, not-Carlie, not-super heroine. I'd particulary root for a brunnette for a change), a fine job... until the next man post-Slott decide to wreck Pete's life again.

Spider-Men was such an abuse of continuity and canon that we are all better off considering the whole thing a Mysterio illusion.

My guess is Peter Parker. Here is my theory, it is true Doctor Octopus will figure out Peter Parker is Spider-Man. Feeling the need to protect his friends/family, Parker zaps himself with the Parker Particles. Thus becoming Superior Spider-Man.

For those making guesses, please explain your guess with a theory! They've said this has been building since at least issue 600. Considering this fact, what evidence is there that Spider-Man 2099 will become the Superior Spider-Man? I see none, but I'd love to hear it if anyone has a theory. Sure, Daniel Slott wrote this on twitter and all that, but that is probably just misdirection. Similarly, where is the evidence that any Osborn will be the Superior Spider-Man?

    Come on, folks! THINK HARDER!

Otto Octavius will be the Superior Spider-man and here's how it will go. (at least how I feel it would go)

Doc Ock finds out from the golden octobot that Peter is Spiderman. He kidnaps someone close to Peter (e.g. MJ, Aunt May) and lures Peter to his base.
Instead of looking to kill Spiderman though, he instead lets MJ or Aunt May go mentioning that this is the only way Spiderman will still talk to him.
Spiderman doesn't believe that Doc Ock simply wants to talk and calls out Ock on all the things that he has done. Then Spiderman says something like "So now Otto, what do you have to say for yourself?" Doc Ock caughts Spiderman by surprise by saying "... I'm sorry.."

So how DOES Doc Ock turn into Superior Spiderman? No he doesn't do it via body-swapping or whatever. Doc Ock is so close to death's door that even with the help of all the best doctors and scientists he will still die. Science might not be able to save Doc Ock.... But what about MAGIC? Here's where Doctor Strange comes in. Peter asks for Doctor Strange's help in not doing an OMD on him... but on Doc Ock! And perhaps with magic, you can have Doctor Strange young-ify Doc Ock so that the brain damage and all that will not have existed YET. This might be a bit dangerous you ask? Perhaps Peter has asked Doctor Strange to set up a failsafe where-in Doc Ock goes back to his dying form if something happens to Peter (or perhaps if Peter wills it).

Doc Ock's dying wish isn't to have revenge against Spidey
Doc Ock's dying wish is to continue living.

Doc Ock is Superior Spidey. Nuff said.

Peter under new civil identity is my main theory.
By his son Harry I see something difficult

I've been thinking Otto in Peter's body since reading the solicits and whatnot. The whole "Superior" thing gives me this sense of arrogance that I could definitely see coming from Otto, though I'm curious what the exact circumstances of it would be. It could be Peter still, but the solicits featuring this Spider-Man really don't sound like him much at all. I guess you can't read too much into them though. Or maybe some sort of mind melding of Peter and Otto.

Although it does introduce a serious creepy factor if he were to end up with MJ in any capacity. Slott did say we would get it, but not in the way we wanted, didn't he? It'd be a pretty sick way to accomplish that. But whatever. I'm curious in any case.

It'll be Peter in Alpha's body. Young Spider-Man again!

I was really thinking about it and I think instead of Otto its Norman Osborn that switches minds with Peter. Him being brought back to Spidey's world in 697 is a major significance. I remember Slott saying he couldn't believe anyone though of this yet and Norman would kinda of fit that. Oh and Norman totally fits the dark and weird vibe Superior Spider-man is supposed to have.

I'll admit that I am a huge fan of the 616 Spider-man series and I have heard of the ultimate and 2099 comics but having never read any what are their powers and how did they get them.

I did a bit of digging and it does sound like the 2099 Spider-man for Superior and then you have the wish fulfillment Doc Ock Dr. Max Borne Spider-man 2211 now he sounds like a good bet for Ock's mind transfer.
