TNG introduced alternate realities based on decisions made, and DS9 continued with it. The newest movie took that and flew with it by making the overall perspective from one of those created realities (and sticking Prime Spock in it). Before those, everything was a causal loop, where you couldn't change the present - you could just be a component in the past that made the present for what it was. In other words, you can't change the future in Star Trek for Rumbles purposes.

Alternate worlds were alternate worlds in TNG, TOS and others. "Evil Goatee Universe" is a good example of that, having showed up in 3 different series (ToS, DS9, Enterprise) and it has nothing to do with timelines or time travel, same as when Worf was hopping realities in TNG. Trek Time Travel has only made a new universe in the new movie.

Back to the subject at hand - Weaponizing Time Travel is possible, but only if used to Dump enemies as your ability to change the future/past is debatable. With the preppers they have in the movies (There are 3 Spocks, 2 from the new movie and the 'original') and access to V'ger and Borg tech, they will be very hard to beat in this prep scenario.

This is why I'm very very wary of time travel/alternate reality storylines.

There's only two Spocks: Old Spock is the original.
    A Flock of Sheep.
    A Pack of Wolves.
    An Inconvenience of Heroes.

Technically there are 4 Spocks - Original Spock, Giant Clone Spock (Trek Animated), Post-Death Genesis-Created-Spock, and Sylar-Spock. Giant Spock isn't in a movie though.

    "THIS IS NOT GIANT LOGICAL."

"You don't actually need to prefix everything with Giant, Giant-Me."

    "I DO NOT GIANT FOLLOW."

Nah, he was a fast-growing clone that got Spock's soul shoved in him.

If we're counting clones with the previous self's memories transferred across, then we should count the several thousand times in his long life that he's been through a transporter. :P

Poorly. If there's one thing Star Wars is REALLY good at, it's wartech.

The Movies tend to have some of Star Trek's best warships, but even then it's not that great...

Yeah, movies means you don't have any of the absurdly powerful anomaly aliens, turning this into pretty much just the Alpha Quadrant powers plus one Borg Cube vs the entire Star Wars Galaxy.

Death changed him as he'd said to Bones. While not as drastic, I see it as a "Gandalf the White" situation. And . . .

Yup, the Clone was also semi-sentient on it's own so I consider it a different Spock after he took over.

And since no-one in the Movie Wars universe can prep up anything much better than bigger/badder guns (Obvious exaggeration here ) as opposed to all the fun stuff Trek's done over the years, I don't see why it seems so cut and dried.

Hell, 1 cloaked ship with the Genesis device in it could take out a huge chunk of any enemy fleet even without beaming it away.

Genesis wouldn't work on more than one ship would it?? (If that, as we never SAW it work on anything but a planet)

I thought Genesis's Gimmick was it terraformed whatever it hit. So unless it hit the Death Star, it should be minimally effective.
