Sounds like Katana is much more her speed, her honesty about GA was refreshing too.
Her GA didn't gel with me, but then the nu52 variant hasn't done that. If the art was much better, I would have given her GA stories a chance.
At any rate, I wish her well with Katana.
Wake me up when it's over...
I certainly hope Katana is a better fit for her, and that between her work on Katana and Lemire's efforts on Green Arrow, we eventually forget the first sixteen issues of the relaunched series.
Was her Green Arrow that bad? Personally, I don't think he's that hard a character to grasp. The world should be your playground with a character like Ollie.

It's obvious to me that Green Arrow was only relaunched as a prelude to get people to buy into the TV show. The book had too much baggage from other longer and superior runs that any reboot was doomed to failure.Thank God I didn't buy into this book or the rest of Nu52.I think this character needed then and still needs to be put on indefinite hiatis and DC needs to move on to other projects and maybe just concentrate on making the TV show a success if possible.Besides the fact that a talented writer like Lemire is going to be wasted on what amounts to a third reboot of the original reboot I find disappointing and as disappointing as Marvel's decision to waste Frank Cho on Savage Wolverine. The bottom line here is that many of the long term fans who have historically complained about Green Arrow regardless of the premise and who could not write or draw their way out of a paper bag themselves also need to move on and give the rest of us a break. And not one word positive or otherwise on Katana.Quite frankly it is the offshoot projects like this that attract me to DC not the tired rehashing of old outdated Iconic formulas which the hardcore seem desperate to keep alive while constantly deriding and not supporting anything else.

The same.I like how she was straight about her problems with getting a hold on GA as he is now. I actually liked some of her GA run, but not enough to stick with it. Her take on Katana sounds good and the character might have more wiggle room for her to play in. I'll probably pick up #1 and see if it holds me.

Personally I felt her GA run was unreadable
I think she had the strongest go at nuOllie, substantially by distancing him from the guy he seemed to be in the earliest issues. Really looking forward to Katana, though.
I think she says a lot in a short space, with: "But the Green Arrow I was handed with the New 52 was a tech guy with armor; he was just a very different character. My idea, of course, was to break him down so that he wasn't rich anymore, and then slowly move him towards the conscience and the sense of social justice that's in his DNA because of his predecessor version."
She's always been a class-conscious writer, representation and ramification-aware. I can imagine the pugnacious Richard Branson who shoots arrows into people that she inherited was harder to ease into than the O'Neill big-talk/big-heart dope on the street, the hard-traveling hero.
Honestly, the only good issue was Winnick's #0 and that was only "pretty good". Krull and Nocenti absolutely butchered Green Arrow. I am very excited to see what Lemire has in store and hope that Nocenti churns out much better work on Katana.
Current Top 10: 1. Justice League Dark 2. Batman 3. Earth 2 4. Nightwing 5. Aquaman 6. Talon 7. The Flash 8. Stormwatch 9. Justice League 10. Wonder Woman
I for one liked Nocenti's run (and that zero issue was just terrible on every level). It looked like the character just wasn't connecting for her though. Maybe over time it would have come together better. Either way, here's hoping that Katanna is a better fit.

You describe my feelings about Ann Nocenti Green Arrow run exactly
The only thing I would have kept from the #0 run would be the first 4 pages and the Roy Harper scenes at the end(because it ties into New 52 Arsenal and the only glimpse of some kind of a relationship between New 52 Ollie and Roy).
