His entire run was a hit job on Kitty. For some good Kitty, we fans had to settle for brief appearances under Headmaster Claremont, Professor Carey or break out the back issues. :(

You realize when you say fact it's more of an opinion, yes? I agree that there are better Kitty portrayls in Excalibur/whatnot, but Astonishing wasn't the worst Kitty or even a bad one. I enjoyed her during that run.

Emma went to Cyclops for help during AvX, trying not to slip. He told her that he had more important things to think about (his obsession to get Hope to choose him over the Avengers). If she had self-respect she would have walked.

Kitty got played in that panel of consequences. Emma fed into Kitty's self obsession and got her to drop the issue. However Emma is weak in that I believe shes in denial about her own responsibility. It doesn't harm her so much as a character but it causes her to consistently be either someone elses follower, or she lets the judgement of others supercede her own because she doesn't trust herself.

I'll give it to Kitty she served her a lot harder than Jean did. Jean always went to the physical when she should have used her words. It would be so easy to verbally destroy Emma. Kitty does it like no other.

That panel with Shaw is so sad. That's when Emma totally bottomed out as a character. In the past her HFC days were written so that you knew she had the power and was playing the men. After that scene you knew that was not the case and that Leland, Pierce, and Selene had all had their fill too.

I couldn't forgive her throwing away ALL of her financial assets for her lover/master's rock. With the scene in the OP, Gillen rightfully deconstructed the hell out of her. Now she can only be rebuilt as a character, hopefully.

How is Kitty any "stronger?" She defines her 'smartness' by knowing when to abandon one man and move on to another man, just as he abandoned Scott's cause when things got tough, and went with Wolverine's cause. Maybe she's a stronger turncoat or opportunist, but that doesn't make her a stronger WOMAN.

Kitty is running her own school. Emma is rotting in jail by following a man who physically abuses her and constantly makes her try to live up to his goddess of an ex wife.

Kitty is a definitely a stronger woman than Emma for being able make a painful, but ultimately correct choice. She didn't even succumb later when Colossus had the power to actually offer the world.

Kitty is a fair weather friend she'll bail on the school when she isn't number 1 anymore or its bad for her image. Emma at least doesn't abandon her people or simply forget they even exist. Sadly the most convincing argument against Schism was Namor's.
