Can anybody identify these comics from early 60s?

This is from the 60s. There was a comic with a villian from the future who's science was so advanced, it appeared like magic. There was a scene of him breaking out of a jail cell by focusing light on a number of pots somehow causing a laser beam.

Another (in the same series?) was some villian doing trying to take over the earth by doing something to block out the sun.

Any experts out there who can identify either of these?

The first sounds like Abra Kadabra, a classic villain of the Silver Age Flash. He's from the 64th century but comes back in time and poses as a master "magician" with his future tech. He was also responsible for some of the greatest comic covers of all time, such as this one:



I don't know what issue that specific scene is from, but the description matches Abra Kadabra to a T.

The sun thing also sounds like a DC plot, but I'm not sure from what comic. Could be something Superman related, as he gets his power from the sun. But it has a DC gimmick vibe.
