X-Crescence CLXX: Arabian Nights

Stop it. I don't want to read it. I miss Fraction so much though. This week's been so horrible for comics that I'm tempted to get the first issue.

The first issue is fun, but the series really gets it legs with issue two (i.e. when Kate enters the cast).
Not to rub it in, but I really enjoyed the books I picked up today. X-Force, DD, Hawkeye and WaTXM all delivered and KG's second issue of Iron Man was a lot of fun.
Monica R co-starred in Captain Marvel (which was awesome) and I even liked the debut issue of the new Captain America.
The only duds were Waid's Hulk and Spidey 699 (which I only disliked because of what happened to my boy, Pete).

Hawkeye #4, Ultimate X-Men #18.1 and Bravest Warriors #2 were fantastic today. A great week for comics I read.

There were some odd mis-steps with her character, usually by people having her guest in their books, but she was always pretty cool, especially when you find out her full story.

The whole kissing-Patriot-after-loving-her-"date"-with-Speed thing was jarring as fuck, though. But, happily, it's water under the bridge.

I'm mostly interested in her. And you're not rubbing it in, I knew I wasn't going to like it this week. Although I was suprirsed at how little I enjoyed UCXM compared to what I expected.

Kate Bishop is the only Young Avenger who doesn't suck. Glad she's getting the biggest push out of all of them.

Didn't like the random rape reveal though. It's a tired plot device and almost never handled with the gravitas it needs. It's such a heavy, heavy subject.

That's what bugged me about it. It was so casually brought up and then never mentioned again. I didn't feel it added anything to her character at all.

I still felt bad for him. He died in the cancer-ridden body of his mortal enemy. As far as deaths go, it's not the best.
