Well, this is an outgrowth from the X-Boards proper.

How rude, I was typing a response to Swash.

I don't really have one. I don't want to spend over a $1,000 really.

Hmm, Well that's a decent enough starting price but you're gonna want to get whatever form of extended warranty the store offers just in case and that's usually not too high.

I have a decent Asus I got a few months ago without having to go past 1,200$ (Canadian) and it's pretty fantastic. Can't remember what the Model is at the moment but it's a more than decent brand if you don't want to break the bank. But keep in mind with the programs I use for school and what not I need a fairly powerful in all respects lap top so you could probably end up getting something less powerful for a far lower price if say all you really need it for is for work and recreation on the internet.

Honestly though whenever buying a computer it's always good to go with someone who really knows their stuff so you don't get swindled or buy something that's gonna break in a a week.

I hope that helps, despite how much I work with computers I'm not the most tech savvy knife in the drawer.
