    Question Physical quality of books

Apologies if this is discussed elsewhere: I've noticed recently as I've been buying more and more HCs and TPBs that the quality of the actual product can vary massively, even between books by the same company.

    Examples:
Chew Omnivore Vol. 1 is bound in such a way that the pages stay open beautifully making it a delight to read, but Vol. 2 is bound so the pages are so tight you have to yank them apart to see double-page spreads in the middle of the book. Just like the Walking Dead HCs - I borrowed these from my sister and hated the act of reading them. The Severed HC was similar, but the outside was great to look at and the quality of the book made up for it.
The Locke and Key TPB versions are absolutely gorgeous to hold and look at. Those Elephantmen trades are absolutely wonderful, on quality paper and great to read despite their hefty size. American Vampire HCs are great. Batman: Death by Design was stunning, but almost all other DC trades seem a bit meh.

Anyway, basically I wanted to know whether I'm the only one who cares about this stuff or there are lots of people like this, and even better - are there any online reviewers that actually comment on this stuff in their reviews - so that I'll know ahead of time? (I buy quite a few books online, where there isn't the opportunity to browse as I did in my LCS at the weekend)

    Thanks
Currently enjoying: Batman, Batwoman, Dial H, Detective Comics, American Vampire, Saga, The Manhattan Projects, Locke and Key, Atomic Robo, East of West...

I've been lucky so far I guess, when I got captain america legacy TPB from waterstone it was fine, a 'lil stiff but just fine.

    The best quality one
