Looking for random advice: I'm in a Fantasy Baseball league, a 12-team H2H points keeper league (keep 5), and I'm trying to decide my 5th keeper (for what it's worth my definite 4 are Prince Fielder 1B, Troy Tulowitzki SS, Stephen Strasburg SP, Bryce Harper OF). We play 6 SPs, 1 each of every position player except OF (where we play 3), and have a DH position that can be filled by any batter. I have to decide between the following:
Madison Bumgarner, SP. Strengths: Only 24, and already consistently 200 innings a year. Nearly a strikeout per inning and an ERA around 3. Weaknesses: Was very off at the end of last year, not sure if it was the innings piling up and wearing him down or there was something more going on. Hasn't had Tommy John yet.
Kris Medlen, SP. Strengths: Was phenomenal over the last 6 or 7 weeks last year, maybe the best starting pitcher in baseball. Just came back from Tommy John. Weaknesses: Just came back from Tommy John, likely won't pitch 200 innings this year, he's 4 years older than Bumgarner (in a long term keeper league that matters), not sure if it was a fluke (hell of a run for a fluke) and teams will adjust or if he might seem like a world beater his first season back then fall to crap like Francisco Liriano did (a keeper of mine 2 years ago).
Ben Zobrist, OF/2B/SS: Strengths: Position eligibility, he's the best 2B or SS that's not likely to be kept by other teams and I can't trust Tulo so either one can be a need position for me. Always solid. Weaknesses: He'll be 32 in May, he's not likely to keep those eligibilities past this year, and he's just not exciting. A solid player I can trust to fill many needs, but at best has 1 or 2 years left of this production.
Thanks for the advice ahead of time.
