Beside the new SM/WW, do you think it will force Batman to make some countermesures, if he hasn't done it already?

    I love this thread
The thought of Lex beating Superman grew more and more ridiculous until I got to the point of "it's plain stupid", all Superman needs to do is use his super breath to freeze Luthor in place

President Luthor I can view as a threat, constitution blah blah citizen hitting the leader and that kind of BS

Luthor the CEO is as difficult to just beat up as Luthor the POTUS. Imagine a super powered alien just crashing the Trump tower and beating crap out of Donald. I'm pretty sure a lot of people would cheer him up but there would be just as many people scared shitless and/or pissed off.

In the first story of the Justice League series, Bruce had prepared countermeasures in case Clark came after him. Similar to "Man Of Steel" #3. But here, Bruce was forced to use them when Clark attacked both him and Hal. They didn't work as well and Kryptonite had yet to be discovered on Earth, so Bruce didn't have that advantage. Reluctantly, the founding members of the League teamed up for the first time. Sometime afterwards, when Clark had to fake his death and assume a new identity, he met with Bruce to discuss this and his other problems. So they're friends without the tension during the early years, like in the previous continuity.

And to say that if you have to stack the deck in favor of Batman, then you have to with Lex as well.
Perhaps, but most people might not of even read that storyline. So it doesn't surprise me people would think a guy who spends a lot of his time trying to take down Superman would be a bigger threat then Batman.

Though things like the red sun watch shouldn't be beyond Lex's ability to create.

We know that in "Last Son", Lex had a Kryptonite laser rifle and pistol. He also had a red sun flame thrower. According to the JLA tie-in issues of "Return Of Doomsday", Dick stated that Bruce had a cache of weapons made to deal with Kryptonians. This was obviously done between the conclusion of "Last Son" and before "R.I.P." and "Final Crisis", since Bruce didn't have them when Zod and his crew took over.

neither one is a real threat to Superman. He could kill them with ease if he wished too.

The only reasons they are threats is because of kryptonite. And y that logic any genius with some kryptonite is a threat to Superman. But odds are Superman should best them 90% of the time

Kryptonite is a threat. So is red solar energy and magic. Not to mention using something that would physically wear him down, like Doomsday did.

Play that one past me again... I thought he always did (in the end). Has something changed in the last 10 years?? (Been a while since I read any Superman).

    1) It is my understanding that Lex is even smarter than Bruce.
    2) Unlike Bruce, killing "the alien" is one of Lex's main objective sin life.
    3) Kal and Bruce are friends.
    4) However, there's the whole Tower Of Babel thing. Who's to say Bruce doesn't have a "backup plan" this time around?

Goodbye León (november 16th, 1993 - june 12th, 2009). You were, are and always will be the best friend I ever had. I will always love you and never forget you. And please, please forgive me.

Thank you for teaching me about love, patience and caring. Rest in Peace, my friend. I hope that wherever it is you are now, you can run and play as much as you want.

See, that's why Kryptonite was invented in the first place. Superman had gotten so powerful to the point that they needed something to disable him. It's the whole central argument regarding his power levels and the fandom. If Superman doesn't have any potential threat from anyone, then it diminishes his character and only proves the point that Batman is better because he's mortal.

That's the point. Clark told Bruce to make sure that if he went rogue, or became a danger that he would do what was necessary. So Bruce did spend his time working on ways to take Clark down. And as soon as he lost the ring, Bruce went and began looking for alternatives. Considering how well Bruce multitasks, it's not unreasonable for him to spend a good amount of time on that. Even Lex had other things occupying his time.
