Book of Fate, by Giffen, actually worked for me. His concept of the Lords of Chaos and Order? Brilliant, big, bold. Their war was beautifully told.

    What about Doctor Strange?
Englehart, Stern, etc. of course. Not Bendis. [/QUOTE]

They did some fine with with cosmology, but their magic was just point and click magic, by fiat. It did not work for me.

Vaughn, on the other hand, told the kind of Doctor Strange story I want to see more of going forward, with Marcos Martin on pencils. I'm not really sure that was the kind of take on magic I wanted to see, but he made it function in the story by setting a few hard and fast rules, using some interesting real world 'mythology' (gun that killed Hitler), and then focusing on character.

It's not my preferred take on magic per se, but the character work was so on point I can't hate.

This has become my favorite book since Lemire took over. Really good interview. So glad that he's staying on as co writer.

Loving it. I'm glad Zee's getting some fan service.

Me too! They said that one of the magical items in the Black Room was Zatara's hat. I would love to Zee break in there and get the hat back.

John was bullshitting to get Zatanna to follow him.

Good interview. Good to see that Lemire rereads his stuff for weaknesses and that he saw that Zatanna had really little development. As long as Lemire writes Frankenstein the way he did in his solo series I'll be getting JL Dark, but I liked it anyway even before Frankie joined.

I'm glad they they're planning to give Zatanna more importance, she has been pretty underwhelming so far.

I like what I'm hearing and I'm excited about what Fawkes is able to do here.
Comic Books are fun, Comic Book fans not so much.

I thought Black Orchid was also going to be a mainstay...oh well. I'm not bummed too much about it, it's still my favorite dark title. Here's hoping Fawkes helps Lemire really bring the heat, and maybe add some creepiness ala Lemire's Animal Man to this book. It really does need more of that, and less of standard superhero fare, imo.

Black Orchid is moving over to Animal Man, according to Lemire.

He's sort of said, in a recent podcast, that Justice League Dark can't be as weird and creepy and dark as Animal Man because it has "Justice League" in the title.

I kinda wish we'd get Vixen over in Animal Man, but I'd like to see Lemire really delve into her more than he has in JLD.

That's too bad. I mean, I understand the mandate, and it's not like I'm not getting the weird and creepy in other Dark titles, it's just too bad it can't live up to it's full potential as a truly Vertigo-esque team title.
